The thread at bluray.com said it was ABL and Monsters Inc... Which is it? Either way, that'd be awesome if we got a couple of spring releases...

If we were to go by Disney's usual release patterns we should have begun to see Anniversary versions. They missed the boat on A Bug's Life though, as this year was the 10th Anniversary. Toy Story 2 will be 10 years old next year, but as mentioned above will more than likely be held until the IMAX run is over. After that there was a two year break until Monsters, Inc. in 2001.
Who knows though. We'll get 'em all eventually.

I don't think there's a correlation between a TV broadcast and a BD release. Many movies have been shown in HD and haven't been released on disc.

I can live with DVD's for now (since they look awesome), but yeah Pixar needs to get these out with all the extras.
On a related note, trailer for Up looks awesome, so you know the Blu for that will be as well.

I've seen A Bug's Life several times and never realized she was one of the voices. I don't think she stands out much if that would be your problem with it.

Glad to see Monsters, Inc. on the way, as, IMO, it's their worst-looking DVD (compression artifacts and twitter) and will benefit the most from a new release.
Meanwhile, I'm kind of frustrated they chose to tie Toy Story in with these theatrical plans. I don't want to have to wait two years for it.
If some combination of A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo is hitting circa April-ish and the Toy Story series won't see daylight 'til the distant future, I'm guessing The Incredibles might arrive with Up as a Q4 2009 offering.

If you want to get a taste of how good the unreleased Pixar movies will look on BD, check out the surprisingly good 90min promo documentary "The Pixar Story" on Wall-E (it's on D2 under Humans, scroll down to the bottom).

aaah dang it!
unfortunately I don't think the disc includes the second part of the film 'The Pixar Story Continues' which includes 'Ratatouille', which always was shown after the main doc on Starz HD

Yeah but that was just a puff-piece for the film. The main documentary is actually very good and could have stood on its own as a solid home video release.

Considering this thread is talking about "older Pixar BD releases" I thought people would be interested in seeing how unreleased movies would look. Ratatouille obviously does not qualify because it's already out.

I wouldn't do that if I were you... the way things are with bonus features being left off BD releases, anyone with The Ultimate Toy Box might want to hang on to it, and the same may be true for the 10th Anniversary/Deluxe editions of TOY STORY & TS 2. Heck, there were even some features on a Cars bonus DVD that never made it to the Blu-ray.
