I was at my BB early afternoon and there were none to be found. Fortunately I wasn't there for one but I always like to check out the new packaging.

Went to my Best Buy at 10:30 yesterday morning and I got one of the remaining two on the new release rack. It was nowhere else to be found. You would think with such a increase in demand for blu-ray, and a good price they would have ordered more.

Let's do the math. The clerk told me they only got 25 copies. Assuming each of the other Best Buy 2 stores in the Tampa Bay area also got 25 copies, that's 75 copies for a populated area of around 1 million.

Well, my time machine is currently in the shop, so I hope you don't mind waiting about 8 months

I find it hard to believe they sold 25 copies of KK on Blu-ray in one day. That would launch this title up to the top #3 on release week if every BB carried that many copies and sold out. A typical catalog title is stocked 6-9 copies each. Even for some day and dates they only stock 6-9 copies each!

I went to the BB in Mission Viejo yesterday around 3:30pm and they only had one copy left and no copies of Repo! No surprise there, that store always sucks.

I was at my local BB when they opened yesterday, and they only had 3 copies in the new release section and one in the blu-ray section. They under-ordered, or got under-shipped.

Considering the current economic climate, my guess is they conservatively ordered.

Or...maybe now that we have alot of new BD owners, they did sell out. Maybe many individuals went into Best Buy yesterday and saw a $19.99 sale price and bought it.

Aren't we up to about 11 BD capable players in the US now?

I stopped in a BB on my break and they had 0 copies.

$19.99 is a great price but the title is not Transformers - it will probably be a modest catalog seller - better then most of what Uni has ported over but not selling 25 copies at each Best Buy. For comparison, it appeared that my BB had 6 copies in the new release section. 0 in the normal BD section. Is it possible they sold 19 copies in the hour after they opened before I got there? Possible. But I highly doubt it. Now, had Uni had ported over all the DVD special features I might give it a bit more confidence.

Under-ordered, it's a common practice. They never order more then 5 at my local best buy.

Is everyone getting a slipcover with thiers? The ones I saw at Target today had them, but I swear the ones at Meijer on Tuesday did not.

Unless retail has changed in the past 4 years, distributors order product for stores right? Items are not ordered pre-release date by associates/management at the store level.

I work for a retail store that gets what they get from distributors and if then we need more we can request them after.

All copies I saw today at Best Buy had slipcovers. To date the only Universal Blu-ray I know of that didn't come with one was Serenity.

Universal is hit and miss on slipcovers. Some new releases like Baby Mama and Burn After Reading don't have them. Some do. Some catalogs don't have them, and some do.

Umm, nearly all of Uni's BD titles do not come with slip covers. Almost all their Day and Date (theatrical) do except The Express, Baby Mama, Leatherheads and Burn After Reading IIRC. The only catalog titles to receive a slip cover have been Mummy, Mummy 2, Scorpion King 2 and King Kong.

$16.99 at Best Buy this week, in case anyone is still wanting it. I bought it, even though I said I would not, because I also have the 2 & 3 disk DVDs.

You can never have too many versions of a 3 hour movie

This has got to be the most impressive picture quality I've seen on Blu. It's amazing.
