Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

Way too long and slow and not a lot of action.
Now i I understand why it bombed at the box office. Maybe if Ridley Scott directed it would have been better.
Maybe if I watch a second time and not all in one sitting it might be better since I bought after being a fan or the original.
Gosling was underwelming.

Jason X. Finished all of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, so figured I'd finally watch the last two Friday the 13th movies I never sat the whole way through. Well, I get why I abandoned this movie the past several times I tried to watch it. Dumb idea. Terrible execution. Horrible acting (not really unusual when it comes to the movies in this series). The only good part was the virtual reality segments...Those were interesting...And...
Freddy vs. Jason. Better than the above-mentioned movie, but still a disappointment. Can't believe they went through so many scripts and this is the one that they chose to produce. It really didn't even have any great set pieces...
The Serpent and the Rainbow. Rewatched for probably the third or fourth time. Never cared to much for this movie...Bill Pullman is good, and the locale is really unique and cool...Just wish the storyline was a bit stronger...
Suspiria. Whoa, boy. The new Synapse version looks and sounds incredible. Anyone who hasn't picked this up needs to do so as soon as possible (I know Synapse announced those other editions coming out in a few months, but I didn't have a problem spending $100+ Canadian Dollars to get the Steelbook edition...It's awesome having the soundtrack and I just love the packaging in general). Also listened to the one commentary that features one Argento scholar, which was okay. A little academic, but there's very rarely a pause...Still, probably would've helped had he had another guest to converse with...Hope to listen to the second commentary later on this week...
The Outlaw Josey Wales. Okay Eastwood movie. A little long at two-and-a-quarter hours...Didn't really meet the expectations I had (as is the case with most Eastwood movies I've seen)...
The Gauntlet. Lesser Eastwood. Vegas setting was kind of neat but it really just felt similar to one of the lesser Dirty Harry movies (and by that, I mean every other movie in the Harry Callahan series other than the first Dirty Harry...Magnum Force has its moments, but I cannot stand the rest of the series). This movie easily could've been another entry in the Harry Callahan series and it wouldn't have felt out of place...
Night of the Living Dead. Watched the new Criterion. Awesome transfer. Then watched the brief documentary with Darabont, del Toro, and Rodriguez. Pretty great...and they don't make it too long so it's a breeze to get through and they make a lot of good points. Nothing that most Romero viewers haven't heard before, but it's nice to hear their admiration for Romero, in general. Then watched the Tom Snyder episode with Romero and Coscarelli, which was also pretty cool. Weird seeing Snyder and Romero smoking cigarettes on TV but I understand that was still pretty common back in the day...
Finally, cause I've had nothing better to do, I also rewatched Shotgun Stories. That's a really great Jeff Nichols movies and I feel it's the movie where Michael Shannon really broke out. I know he had minor roles in stuff before that movie (including Groundhog Day), but this little independent film really put him on the map. I still think Jeff Nichols's follow-up, Take Shelter remains his best movie, but this was a great start. Kind of like when Paul Thomas Anderson did the impressive Hard Eight and then followed it up with the masterful Boogie Nights (not saying Nichols is as talented as Anderson, just that they both had great debuts and then extremely impressive follow-ups). Weird thing is, I didn't really like Nichols's Midnight Special...thought that movie would be great but just couldn't get into it...

Finally got through Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy documentary about the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Despite me not being a big fan of the series, in general, I thought this was a very well done doc. Learned a lot of stuff about the series that I didn't know or just never picked up on...Not as good as Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th, but it's still pretty solid...especially considering its length...
Ghosts of Mars. Lesser Carpenter, but still pretty good...I liked Statham and Ice Cube in this...
Blue Chips. William Friedkin movie featuring Shaq and Penny Hardaway as two co-stars. This movie seems to get a lot of hate, but I've always liked it...A bit cheesy at times, but man, Nolte gives it his all in virtually every performance...The opening sequence alone is just an expletive filled rant that seems to go on and on...I like basketball, and I like this movie...
The Pledge. My favorite of the movies Sean Penn has directed (The Crossing Guard would be my second favorite). Love this movie and watch it once or twice a year. Patricia Clarkson, Tom Noonan, Mickey Rourke, Helen Mirren, Robin Wright, Harry Dean, Michael O'Keefe, Aaron Eckhart, Benicio Del Toro...The talent in this movie is undeniable...And I think they all give some of their best performances...

Boring and probably one of the worst movies I have seen this year.
I hope Channing Tatum gets hit with a metoo scandal so we don't have to see his lame ass in movies anymore.

Did not recognize Val Kilmer at first and thought he was some European actor that was famous across the pond but not in the U.S.

Back in the old days when you did not have to use your brain or mind and you can take out 30 guys with a machine gun.
I bet this will never get a U.S. blu-ray release.

The Florida Project...didn't like it. not at all. it was like Larry Clark's KIDS, but much more watered down and PG compared. Just very young kids just doing some mischievous things with little to no parental guidance except for cranky older manager man. Didn't stirke me at all and Dafoe's performances, frankly nothing special. i dunno.

After hearing all the terrible things about this movie I almost didn't rent it. We saw it Friday night and it had a few laughs. Not a great movie but it was worth the price of a rental for us.

Saw this in the theater. Quite a departure for JC to play a sad guy but it had some good action and suspense.

i've probably seen this 3, maybe 4 times and watching it again after so long, it is as intense and scary as ever. even though you know what's gonna happen, it still keeps you on the edge. the end scene when Gumb wheres the night vision googles is just so intense. the performances, especially Foster and Hopkins are iconic. i know people say Hopkins overacted or whatever, but he fucking nailed menace and sophistication and madness and brilliance all embodied in this one character. Levine was great as well and wish his career took off a little more from this, but he ain't doing so bad. this is a near flawless movie. and the new Criterion blu looks and sounds fantastic. well deserved 5 Oscar wins.

Monkey Shines. Pretty good "B" Romero movie. Acting was good, plot was pretty interesting, and all of the camera-work was great...Pleasantly surprised...
The Dark Half. Another non-zombie Romero movie. It was so-so. Timothy Hutton was pretty good, but some of the effects were a little weak and I felt like it was a bit long...Michael Rooker was also good in his role...
Knightriders. One of my least favorite Romero movies...This was my first viewing and it just never clicked for me...Thought it was cheesy, found the plot ridiculous, and struggled to get through the movie...It's insane length doesn't help either...
Hoping to finish the Romero marathon by watching Season of the Witch and There's Always Vanilla tonight...

Did not look that interesting but when I put it in the Blu-ray player I was riveted.
Surprised this got no love from the Academy.

Probably not too interesting for people who weren't around for the actual events. The weight of a man vs. woman sporting match and that woman being a lesbian is fairly benign today. For those of us that were around for the match, it is a great representation.

It happened 1 year before I was born.
They did a great job recreating the 70's and adding Howard Cossell was great.
Steve Carrell did a great job making Riggs likeable.

Not quite what I was expecting but I really liked it a lot. I'm rooting for Get Out as Best Picture, but I hope that Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell get statues too.
I loved In Bruges but thought that Seven Psychopaths was just ok despite the great cast. Good to see McDonagh back on his game. Very cool that it includes his 2004 short Six Shooter, which I've never seen. Planning on watching that today.

The Indian Runner. Sean Penn's directorial debut. Fantastic movie, filled with great performances from Viggo, David Morse, Patricia Arquette, and Dennis Hopper (in albeit, a brief role). Really compelling movie that was beautifully written and directed...The brief making-of on the disc is really good, too...Probably my second favourite Penn-directed movie after The Pledge...
The Crossing Guard. Another really good movie directed by Sean Penn starring Jack Nicholson in what I feel is one of his greatest roles (and obviously, he's had a ton of them). Grief stricken over his daughter's death by a drunk driver, he struggles dealing with his grief when the perpetrator is released from prison (played skillfully by David Morse)...The movie takes a lot of twists and turns that you don't see coming and is compelling throughout...Anjelica Huston is also great as Nicholson's ex-wife...Owned the DVD for years and can't believe I put off watching it until now (the DVD itself, however, is a bit poor...could really use an upgrade...I'm hoping Kino Lorber is eventually able to get the rights to this one)...
Terminator: Genisys. Pretty much hated this movie. Very derivative of the first one, and it really never generates any momentum. By the third act, you may as well throw all logic out the window...I liked the actors involved, but am glad that Cameron intends on completely ignoring this one once the rights revert back to him...Just wish he would focus on directing the next Terminator movie himself instead of focusing all his efforts on the Avatar series...
Maggie. Decided to watch another Arnold movie. Impressive. Feels kind of like an arthouse movie through much of its duration. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to watch it, but if you manage to catch it on TV, you could do a lot worse...And I know he sometimes has a limited range, but Arnold really carried the movie...

The Babadook. Will go down as one of my least favorite movies of all-time. I've owned it since it came out but finally got around to watching it...Not impressed. The storyline was virtually non-existent (in my mind) and I just hated pretty much every aspect of it...Did not find it scary...The only plus would be the acting of the kid...He did a good job...But I have no idea how this movie got the acclaim that it got upon its release...Extremely disappointing...

Nicolas Cage was busy?
I don't know Pacino could be impressed with the script for this movie or it was just a quick money grab. Paterno should be a lot better than this.

Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Wow. Put off watching this for years and for good reason. This was atrocious. I think the problems mainly started with the script, and Lucas's insistence that this somehow
Cate Blanchett also did a terrible job...
Always. Had never seen this, and was a little impressed. Lesser Spielberg, but it was still good. Dreyfuss, Goodman, and Hunter were all good in their roles...A little sappy at times, but overall it was an okay time to spend a couple of hours...
