Proof positive that a woman doesn't need huge curves and big fake tits to be sexy. Always thought Theron was incredibly sexy.

A lot of humor so it is not all melancholy.

That was an intense telling of a very dark chapter in the civil rights saga. Anyone who thinks there is distrust of the police these days should see this. Old enough to remember the events but not old enough to really know much detail. I just remember the big headlines; MLK, Kennedy, riots, Vietnam, protests. Crazy time in American life.

Too bad my Godfather passed away. He was a career Rochester Police Dept. cop who worked during the Rochester riots. He told some scary stories about riots. Would have loved to have gotten his take on that story.

It was a crazy time. Felt bad for the guy who never became a singer and turned to the priesthood.

Yeah, Dog Soldiers is a pretty awesome movie. Also loved his movie, The Descent...Tried to watch the sequel again last night, but The Descent: Part Two is truly awful. I know it wasn't Marshall that directed it (I think it was his cinematographer or one of his producers), but it was a joke of a movie, and not in a good way...
Listened to the commentary by Adam Green and Joe Lynch on Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter. Great fan commentary to watch while downing a few beers...Definitely one of my favourite Friday movies...
Marnie Lesser Hitchcock. Connery was pretty good but I thought Tippi Hedren was kind of bland in this. Was also a bit too long, in my estimation...
Frenzy One of Hitchcock's last movies, about a serial killer in London. I had actually heard a ton of good things about this movie, from reputable sources saying this was one of Hitchcock's "bounce back" movies towards the end of his career but I can't say I'm a fan. A couple of good set-pieces aside, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this...
Torn Curtain Another lacklustre Hitchcock movie. Paul Newman is good, as per usual, but the plot is a little droll and I just didn't really care for anyone in it...One good (kind of violent) scene happens in a farmhouse less than midway through the movie but that's about as exciting as things get...
Happy Death Day Horrible. Tries to be the horror version of Groundhog Day but fails in virtually every aspect. Terrible acting. Horrible writing. And the ending does not leave anyone satisfied. Waste of time...Aside from Get Out, I really just don't get the hype when it comes to Blumhouse Productions...
Carlos Finally sat through all three "episodes" in one viewing. Great movie. Loved Edgar Ramirez. Would highly recommend. Can't imagine watching the Theatrical Cut, as they would've had to have cut out a ton of great material...
The Baader Meinhof Complex Another really great movie that I've owned for years but only recently got around to watching. A very historically accurate document about the unrest in Germany during the late sixties/early seventies...It is long, but I really don't know what they could've cut from it...
It! The Terror From Outer Space Supposedly a big influence on Dan O'Bannon when he originally wrote the first draft for Alien. Solid "B" science fiction movie from the 50s...Kind of like an elongated Twilight Zone episode...I enjoyed it...
Plunder Road Another Blu-Ray I've owned for a while but finally got around to watching. Really great film noir...I wouldn't put it up there with masterworks like Murder, My Sweet, Out of the Past, or The Asphalt Jungle, but it's definitely upper tier film noir...And it's got Elisha Cook , which is always a plus...
Anyway, have had lots of free time recently so I'll continue posting as I watch movies...

A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge Big horror fan but for whatever reason have never been too fond of the Nightmare on Elm Street series. The first one is okay. I'm finally getting around to watching the rest of the series and can't say it gets any better. This sequel was pretty brutal...Didn't seem to abide by any of the "rules" set in the first film...
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Better than the previous film, but not by much. Some decent effects...and Patricia Arquette is always good...Just don't understand the appeal of the series...And this is coming from someone that loves the Friday the 13th series (Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan is a personal favourite...I feel it's very underrated and people always bitch that more of it doesn't take place in New York, but obviously budget reasons created a problem...For what it's worth, I think Rob Hedden did a pretty good job based on the restrictions forced upon him)...I also like the Halloween series quite a bit, along with the Child's Play movies...And it's not like I don't like Craven (I know he only directed the first and seventh), as I love the Scream movies...
Will watch the remaining movies in the Nightmare on Elm Street series on the weekend, but I need to change it up so am starting to watch The Larry Sanders Show for the first time...Never seen it but have heard lots of good things so I'm hoping to get through at least a disc or two...

I was going to try and make this an HD DVD weekend as I try and weed through and get rid of some titles I don't want anymore. Instead I ended up making it a 4K BR weekend again.

I have a nephew who is a high functioning autistic. He has that amazing memory and a love of game shows. What he doesn't have is the athleticism. I saw this in the theater and liked it enough to pick it up. Anna Kendrick is a cutie in this even though she is the damsel in distress.

When I heard these were being released in 4K I thought I might have to look for an excuse to upgrade. Have to admit that BR is pretty damn good. Like Bryce Dallas Howard in this. When she shot the dinosaur that was bad ass.

Mike White the guy who played the gay friend was the director. It is certified fresh according to Rotten Tomatoes lol.

I simply cannot get enough of this movie. Over the last year, it's slowly inched its way up my list of favorite movies, and now it's somewhere around number four or five.

Watched the International Theatrical Version of Blade Runner last night, plus the 3 prequels, then watched Blade Runner 2049 this evening. I loved it, my wife not so much. She said it was OK, I thought it was excellent.

Agreed. I thought the movie was great. Really liked how understated Steve Carell's performance was. And Fishburne and Cranston were great. I'd actually put this up there with the top movies of last year. A little surprised it didn't get more Oscar buzz, especially in the acting categories...
Also watched Only the Brave. Pretty good natural disaster-type movie, with a great ensemble. I've always like James Badge Dale (I think that's his name), and Jeff Bridges and Brolin were great. Miles Teller also continues to impress (and I'm one of the few people that actually liked the Fantastic Four movie he was in...never understand all the negative press that movie got...Fishburne and Jamie Bell were also great in that movie, I thought)...
Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Better than the other Nightmare movies I recently saw, but still wasn't as good as I was led to believe. I'll pretty much take any of his Scream movies over any of the Nightmare series (and I know he only directed the first and last ones)...and yes, that would even include Scream 3, which was the weakest of the series. My favourite movie of his is still Scream 4...
Without Warning. Kind of weak, but it was nice to see Jack Palance and Martin Laudau playing those weird, kind of crazy characters...Also had a young David Caruso but I'd say the movie was overall pretty forgettable...Don't anticipate watching it again...
Capturing the Friedmans. Rewatched this the other night. Definitely one of my favourite documentaries of all-time...And I love how every time you watch it with a new group of friends, there's always a lot of differing opinions at the end...The special features are great, too...
West of Memphis. Another great documentary movie...I love the Paradise Lost series, but this movie definitely brings at least a certain degree of closure to the saga of the West Memphis 3...I even ordered one of their t-shirts back in the day to help with their legal defense fund...
Green Room. Loved Blue Ruin a bit more, but this was an awesome movie. Patrick Stewart was great as the villain...Would love to see him in more intense roles like this...And it sucks that Anton is no longer with us...
Will be watching some more movies tonight...

Other than Rodents Of Unusual Size, they threw quite a few obstacles at these two. Not bad but basically predictable storyline.
