Bliss.
DePalma was always so much more than a one note Hitchcock imitator.

Wasn't overly impressed with SF's A/V presentation, so I'm eyeing Arrows upcoming release- even though this viewing here means it will likely be many years before I get around to seeing it again.

Given that I was under the impression years ago that the elements for this were too problematic to yield a worthwhile image harvest, the work Eureka did is nothing less than stunning and miles ahead of the OoP Twilight Time disc.
The movie itself is a bit middle of the road with the main lure being able to see Hayworths ginger locks in vivid technicolor. There's also one truly standout showstopper where Gene Kelly dances with himself. The technical virtuosity on display is awe inspiring when you realize what he had to accomplish.

Finished up the short, but entertaining and very well produced season with the last two eps. Greatly enjoyed this and was heartened to see Atwell and her character used well to give even more resonance to the CA story. To me, this is a great example of how you do prequel material.

I liked the House and one of the rare times you can see a comedy or Amy Poehler in any project these days.

With yesterday being veterans day and the discussion over WWII movies I decided to pop in the only war movie I own that's less than 2h. I do like it though. Not many films deal with life in the air during WWII.

Had seen this in the theater and knew it had enough charm I could put it on for the wife. Hopefully they won't keep milking this cow but it is a decent rental.

Excellent

Some people might disagree but Kyle Mooney did a great job with this movie.

Don't understand why this was so popular.

Awful movie and should get some Razzie nominations. Raunchy and vulgar humor throughout.

I had no opinion of Tiffany Haddish when she hosted SNL but now I hate her.

Don't understand the harsh reviews since this was a great movie.

What a thoroughly entertaining comedy. I hadn't seen it since all those frequent airings on TBS when I was a kid. The entire cast is great, but Parton really shines here in her debut role. It's a shame Hollywood couldn't come up with some better vehicles for her in the wake of this movie's success.

9 to 5 was never going to be a reference quality blu-ray due to the hazy cinematography and somewhat grainy film stock, but the transfer on the Twilight Time disc is reportedly sourced from a recent 4K scan Overall, it looks pretty great.

Been watching all the Planet of the Apes movies the last few days, watched the last one we have this evening: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Primed for the next installment whenever I can pick it up...

Didn't want to start a thread for this but what would you guys recommend for a good family friendly (PG-13 or lower) UHD to show off a new TV?

I just ordered a new OLED set and want to grab 1-2 titles. Planet Earth 2 seems like a given(my girls are both nature/animal nuts and love all the Discovery stuff). I was thinking of The Fifth Element for the second. Fun, super colorful and I'd imagine it would be gorgeous. How's the 4k transfer on that one? Any other movies that would be better/cooler?

You can follow the link in my signature to see the 23 I have. Any would make an impressive display. Hidden Figures has some good scenes, Passengers, or Guardians all make great examples.

I saw this in the theater and was kind of ambivalent about it. Saw it again last night and found it one of my least favorite Marvel movies. Holland is just a tad squeaky for me. It also reminded me a little of Transformers 2. The secondary sidekick character who was there to be annoying, he was, and to provide suspense by doing stuff that gets the hero in more trouble, he did. Keaton kills it. He makes the whole movie worth watching.
