Season 2 Mad Hatter eps from

First eps of this I can recall watching this year. Had been very burned out on it, but West's death created some urgency to dip in again. Enjoyed these two, and liked David Wayne's performance far more now than I did as a kid.

Outstanding. I'd forgotten Rod Serling adapted the screenplay. Although I'm still disappointed/ sick about the Kirk Douglas/Natalie Wood story, I have to admit he gives a wonderfully restrained, atypical performance here. Everyone is great and the subject matter probably creates more tension now that it ever has. Kudos to WA for making some spectacular choices this year.

^ still need to get that. Love Rod Taylor.

Enjoyed it quite a bit. Was concerned because I saw a lot of people knocking it for a weak third act, but I was happy to find I had no problem with it whatsoever. And unlike something like Daredevil, the material just gets better for me the more I reflect on it. Wasn't even aware of it when it was released theatrically last winter, so turned out to be an unexpected pleasure.
Even though I specifically bought the steel for the 3D, I ended up watching it in 2D. Didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

First time seeing it. A lot of the usual tropes that are all too familiar at this point. This one won't get watched again for quite a while, though I am more than ready to hit up Goodfellas again.

I was watching "The Godfather" cast reunion at the Tribeca film festival via Youtube this past weekend and it moved me to revisit both "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II." After doing the mafia marathon this past weekend, I am convinced a film of that stature could never be produced today. Primarily because the industry is bereft of the caliber of talent that crafted those masterpieces...

Fascinating to watch this again in a dedicated HT environment without other distractions. Played a bit differently for me compared to an earlier viewing years ago. There was an troubling facet to it that I was never conscious of before. Happy though that I finally arrived at a night where a 2 hour 40 minute courtroom drama was exactly the kind of content I was in the mood for.

Ep 4 from

taking this show real sloooooow. I may try to accelerate to one ep every week from here on out.

Interesting take on Ray Kroc, the "founder" of McDonald's. I had heard about how the McDonald's brothers actually started the whole concept and Kroc just took the ball and ran leaving little in return for the two brothers. This is a nice look at some of the goings on. In some ways reminds me of The Social Network and Zuckerberg. Took someone else's idea, developed it, stole a few ideas along the way and turned it into a multi-billion dollar enterprise.

I was in the Chicago area last week and saw the store they called "number 1". It is now basically just a museum.

Overlong, repetitive soaper with Gene Kelly playing against type as a lower rent, summer stock lothario and Natalie Wood as the fresh out of High School Jewish American Princess who falls for him.
Wasn't a great movie, but I'm a sucker for stories about struggling artists and just about anything with Natalie Wood.

Watching it again I realized it's probably been 30 years since the last time I saw it- and I had forgotten just every single plot point. Low key character study, with an affecting supporting role for Denholm Elliot- though his character is mostly just a passive observer.
What surprised me most revisiting this, was just how well Bogdonavich came across as an actor.
The disc benefits greatly from it's special features, especially a short sit down with Bogdonavich (filmed quite a while ago) where he comes across as likable and not the least bit pretentious, laying out why the film means so much to him.

I must have seen the trailer for this 50 times in the summer of '79. It was the kind of low brow entertainment I turned my nose up to when I was 12, but for some reason can easily enjoy now. Must just be the nostalgia factor.

Seems more slight ever time I watch it. Even compared to something like Eye Of The Tiger, which I still enjoy, this one feels more and more ramshackle. Sad to see Harryhausen go out like this.
Will definitely be a while before I watch this again.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon...._AC_US200_.jpg

Never seen an Almodovar film before, so beyond the saturated colors and high key lighting I wasn't sure what to expect. It was refreshing to see that the premise was played as straight as it was for most of the film. Couldn't really buy the 'Hollywood ending' though, as it felt like there was another act, or at least some connective tissue, missing and necessary to get the main characters to that end point.
I wish the third act overall had been sharper. Still, for what it is, it's worth a recommendation if you want something un-PC and ...unique.

Life...This was straight out of 80's alien fests like Leviathan or the one with Treat Williams. I didn't like the creature effects at all. When Calvin gets a face he just got too stupid looking.
Spoiler:
The Ryan Reynolds kill scene was cool.
But, this should have been done with much lesser stars. It's not an original movie or even really good, but it's a little fun in a silly sort of way. I guess the twist was ok, but predictable.

Way to go spoiling character deaths in a blu ray that doesn't even come out for a few days!

Yeah, definitely spoiler worthy. Oh well, hopefully I'll forget before I sit down to watch.. I watched the first three episodes of "Speed Racer" ...and damn if Racer X doesn't look exactly like Matthew Fox, who played the character in the live action film. I was blown away by how fantastic this looks. Please Warner Bros! Can I get Jonny Quest on Blu-ray? Please? I'm a grown man and I demand to watch my cartoons in HD!
