Atom Egoyan's Remember. As a lot of Egoyan's more recent movies have been hit or miss for me, I wasn't expecting much from this...which is a great way to begin watching this movie because it was FANTASTIC. I couldn't believe a movie starring Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer could be sooooo good...Lots of interesting little twists, and the movie is gripping from start to finish...Great plot...And Plummer was really, really great...I don't want to spoil the ending but it was awesome...Very, very memorable movie...Wish this got a lot more hype when it was released in 2015...And I'm ashamed this sat on my shelf for a couple of years before I took the time to watch it...I plan on showing this to some buddies over the weekend to see what they think of it...

Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist. Not that bad. Decent movie. Little bit of dodgy CGI, but aside from that it was an enjoyable way to spend two hours...Wouldn't highly recommend, but if it's on TV, you could do much worse...

Convoy. Being a giant Peckinpah fan, I can usually find something positive to say about any one of his movies (even The Osterman Weekend, which was largely derided by critics, but I have a certain affinity for...I think it's a solid, underrated movie, and I love Dennis Hopper and Craig Nelson in it), but this is just one of the worst movies I've ever sat through. Non-sensical, boring as hell...The movie is awful. I know Peckinpah had his problems at this point, and this just proves how bad they were...He never would've done this movie had he been sober...Just a terrible movie, which is a shame to say...It's actually the only movie of his that I have seen that I didn't like...The only movie of his I have yet to see is Cross of Iron, but seeing as how I've owned that DVD for years, I might watch it this weekend...Hope it washes out the bad taste that is this movie...

Not as terrible as some of the reviews made it out to be. Still a lot of fun and gets extra points for Spoiler:
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon...._AC_US218_.jpg Also not as terrible as some of the reviews, which kept me from seeing in the theater. Too much CGI at points, looked like a video game. Some of the battle/action stuff was too chaotic to follow. Wonder Woman and The Flash were the standouts. I really liked Ezra Miller's Flash, though I know some hated it. I would gladly watch a stand alone film with him as Barry Allen. Aquaman did nothing for me, I'm already planning on passing on that film. |

Saw this in the theater twice. Once on a whim with moviepass, then the second time on a business trip for a double feature. The picture was every bity as vivid and immersive as you would expect from a new release. The sound top notch. Great purchase. |

Admittedly a poor result but I like the airplane scene. Also checked out some of the commentary. |

Annabelle Wallis is the only thing I liked in the Mummy and not for her role in the movie.
http://bigtracker.org/_ld/283/36020412.jpg At least it was not 3 hrs like every Marvel movie which was refreshing though still not a lot of action. Maybe in a couple of years we can get a Justice League vs Avengers movie where Warner and Disney can make a deal like HBO and Showtime did with the Manny vs Mayweather fight. |

It was better the second time though they just basically remade Episode 4 with some tweaks. |

Not a movie I would own but we found it surprisingly amusing. Several LOL moments. |

Finally got around to watching Legend of the Mountain and it is gorgeous. It has its quirks, but what an evocative film. There's a bit of contention on that other forum about the print, but I think it's hogwash. Definitely recommended.

It was pretty good. So far most of the Oscar nominated movies I have seen so far have been pretty good. |

Cry Danger. Awesome film noir starring Dick Powell. Surprised this isn't more highly acclaimed...Owned the Olive release for a couple of years and finally got around to watching it...Not disappointed...Great little gem...
The Big Combo. Another great film noir. The picture quality on the Blu-Ray isn't the greatest, but the movie really holds up. Richard Conte is great...Lots of very iconic shots throughout the movie, especially the scenes at the airport hangar... Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The Don Siegel version from 1956. Pretty good, but I still prefer the Kaufman version from 1978. The beginning hour is a bit of a bore...Overall, the movie sometimes feels like an elongated Twilight Zone episode, in the sense that I almost feel the movie would've been better had it been much, much shorter...(and I love original Twilight Zone series)... The Numbers Station. Direct-to-Video movie starring John Cusack. Surprisingly good. Not sure why, but John Cusack's DTV movies are usually pretty solid (one of the best of the past couple of years is The Frozen Ground with Nic Cage)...I'm always shocked at the movies he picks these days, but I usually don't have any issues with his performance...That said... Arsenal. Another DTV movie starring Cusack and Nic Cage. This is one where I felt Cusack was wrong for the role (albeit, a minor one). Cage also wasn't that great. Overall, it was an okay movie, but I wouldn't recommend purchasing it...Only check it out if you're a diehard fan of those two actors... Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hated it. Wasn't a giant fan of The Force Awakens, but thought it was better than the prequels. This one? Well, I probably prefer The Phantom Menace over this (and I really couldn't stand the prequels)...As one reviewer on the site said, the humour was really weak and misplaced...And I cannot stand Adam Driver in his role (the only thing I've ever really liked him in was Inside Llewyn Davis)... |
re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?
Mom and Dad. I had heard so many great things about this movie. Very disappointed. It's still good. Just no where near as good as some people said. Is it over the top? Yes. Is Nic Cage good in it? Not really. He's okay. I really felt that Selma Blair carried the movie. It's just not nearly as good as people were saying it was...And it pisses me off that they have a good Rotten Tomatoes thing (not that those usually matter, they're usually bullshit) sticker on the cover, but it's really just not that great...Good concept...Poor execution...Too bad...Would be interested to hear what other forum members think of this movie...good or bad?....

I can't help it; I love this movie. The last third sags quite a bit, but everything that comes before more than makes up for it. |

To get ready for my upcoming trip to Normandy this June. I need to start catching up and re-watching all my D-Day based movies. After a couple crappy releases they got this one right. Good looking movie in B&W. The sound even remixed doesn't give the immersion of modern movies though. Not sure if the re-release from a few years ago is the same one or if it was remastered. |

It was ok but slow and not a lot of dialogue. I can see why it did not receive a lot of love from the Academy. |
