L'Avventura despite some very very minor camera anomalies - the 4K transfer and the overall sharpness of the image is simply stunning, it looked like the movie was shot last week.

I think that's the highest body count I've ever seen. Probably more than any war movie.

It's an old comment but there are so many DTV actors from the 80's they could have included instead of these youngsters. Rousey was the only one I knew

I adored the remake growing up but this original was definitely the better of the two and had an ending that was ballsy. This is now my favorite version.

One of those young actors does not count since Victor Oriz was or is a boxer.

Maybe Stallone saw him in a fight and casted him.

Kellan Lutz I am not sure how he gets these roles.

Maleficent

I wonder if all the changes with the story and characters pissed people off?

I thought it was ok.

There were definitely people pissed off. I tend to think those people didn't really 'get it' though. I didn't think it was perfect, but I thought it was absolutely worthy of reflection- which is more than you can say for the majority of movies in the marketplace.

in addition to a few more eps of Batman, watched this last night

I'm not a huge fan of animated movies, and it takes overcoming some resistance to just casually put one in and watch. For some reason this felt like the right night to spin this and it was.
The first time I watched it about eight years back, I found it interesting and affecting, but also a bit slow going and long. This time it just breezed by and I was surprised at how short it seemed. Great voice work and one of the most beautiful scores I've heard in a long time. Beautiful, beautiful movie.

Maybe if Maleficent drops to under $10 I might buy it.

Made it an Arnold doubleheader today with Last Stand and Sabotage. Would have done Escape Plan but it hasn't arrived yet from Amazon.

Got around to seeing Escape Plan on HBO Go. Not great, but pretty decent.

He not only "borrows" from Jodorowsky, but also other directors I like such as Roman Polanski, Stanley Kubrick & Ken Russell. It's a damn shame.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

The first half of the first Catwoman episode (never realized one of her henchmen is Tarzan himself)
Also the first Season Star Trek ep "Tomorrow Is Yesterday"
Both of which sandwiched

God, what a run DePalma had starting with Phantom Of The Paradise through Blow Out, all of which are among my favorite films of all time. I owned the Twilight Time edition, and there's no question the Arrow smokes it in every way with the possible exception of jacket art.
Movie was as entertaining as ever- and even more interesting after having recently finished the book Easy Riders, Raging Bulls which paints an interesting picture of both DePalma and Irving in the era this film was made.

Now that you've seen the film you should read the book. It plays like a director's cut of the film. I liked the film, so the book acts as a companion piece. There's even a really cool opening to the book that Zombie could not capture on film for being too controversial.

Tammy

I wonder what convinced Dan Aykroyd, Susan Sarandon, and Kathy Bates to be in this awful movie?

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced this?
