Taken (Blu-Ray)

Great movie, but the ending could have been better, in my opinion.

Synecdoche, New York - Beautiful, haunting, sad, frustrating, confusing, emotional, perplexing, strange, etc. - It's hard to describe this film without trying to get into the metaphors on life and death found in this film, but it was certainly memorable and fascinating. I'm glad I finally saw it. Not a favorite of mine, but a good film nonetheless and one I expect I will want to revisit. It may even grow on me over time.

3 Days of the Condor Movie never looked better, it's been years since I watched it, & never realized before how much The Bourne Identity is almost an exact remake of this movie.

Half Baked (HD DVD) - Liked this movie much more than I remembered...looked decent too...

X2 - Looked and sounded awesome...probably my second favorite comic book movie.

Band of Brothers - Part 1: "Currahee" - Again...looked and sounded great...love this series. I'll probably watch this all week instead of playing God of War II or watching the Cubs continue to suck b@lls...

I think it's definitely Pixar's most underrated film. I watched it the other night myself and it's simply amazing how beautiful that world is.

Most recently though I took in Transporter 3. Outside of the preposterous bridge/river scene it's very entertaining.

Moonraker. My first time seeing the film. Not very good, but I still enjoyed it.

Watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in prep for new Potter film coming up. Plan to watch the rest of the series over the next two or three weeks. Amazing films.

Totally agree, and I am planning on re-watching them the same way. I still haven't started yet.

^

I think that I'll do the same. I have all 5 films on HD DVD. It's been quite some time since I last fired up the old XA1.

Next - HD DVD

Nice A/V, slightly above average story, but only because I'm a complete sucker for time travel related stuff.

Hulk - the newer one.

Stupid me had the wrong audio setting on the BD player and finally got it in DTS, wow...what a difference.

Circle of Iron from Netflix, woah! Never saw it before, what great, great schlock! PQ was outstanding for a 30+ year-old film, AQ was also very nice (DTS HD-MA track, didn't check out the TrueHD). Immediately bought it from Amazon, it'll be here tomorrow.

Trading Places. Fun movie, and it holds up pretty well. Probably not worthy of keeping for me though but I did enjoy watching it.

Unforgiven - I forgot how much I liked this movie. It looks great on BD too! Too bad there's no lossless audio, but it's not a dealbreaker.

Saw this on a late night viewing in 1980 or so and thought it was quite good. A very good story line, worth a rental to check it out.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

I just watched my first ever Blu-rays, Wall-E and Cache. Both looked fantastic, as expected. Not too much I can add to the Wall-E discussion, except that I wished the entire film had been silent, but Cache was quite the viewing experience. An extremely unsettling, tense film with one of the most shocking
Spoiler:
death sequences
I've ever seen, both unexpected and graphic. Watching a Blu-ray disc of a film shot with an HD cam made it all the more uncomfortably realistic. Highly recommended.

Mr. Brooks. Decent film. Adequate PQ.

There's Something About Mary. Poor PQ/AQ overall. Cute flick though - sweet in nature, and it had a few good laughs. First time viewing. I might need to get this one someday when its cheap.
