Kick-Ass - First time watching it since the theaters, loved it even more. Outstanding Blu-Ray of one of the absolute best comic book films of the past few years.

Toy Story (1995) - Rewatching in anticipation of seeing the third in theaters next week.
Ponyo (2008) - Not my favorite of his films, but still quite excellent.
Jason and the Argonauts (1963) -

Couples Retreat I found this entertaining enough to pay the $3 to GoHastings to own this. Malin Akereman was criminally underused so Vince Vaughn could recite some monologues

From Paris With Love Taken with Travolta

The Crazies (2010) - Why did I skip this in theaters? I'm a total sucker for horror films which take place in small, non-descript midwestern towns, so I loved this. It wastes ZERO time getting into the thick of things, and once it does the film rarely lets up. I'd say this is a rare remake that easily surpasses the original; it does exactly what a remake should - improves upon a previous concept. PQ looked great, AQ was superb.

Drag Me To Hell: Awesome goopy fun.

Switchblade Romance (Haute Tension)
: Ending never bothered me because everything leading up to it (and after) is so amazing.

Batman: Under the Red Hood - Surprised to say this is tied with Wonder Woman as being the only 2 really good animated movies DC has done under this new line. Shocking because I consider Winnick to be the single worst modern comic writer & I never liked this storyline in the comics. Probably the best non-Conroy Batman voice but the Joker voice was terrible. I just can't stand the post-Ledger craze of having the Joker look & act more like Ledger's Joker.

Paul Blart Mall Cop My other $2.50 Blu-ray from gohastings sale. I wouldn't have purchased this but for $3 it's an entertaining enough movie to check it out once a year on Black Friday.

In Bruges--I really didn't buy all the hype, but after watching it, I'm wondering if I'm wrong to think this deserved an Academy Award nomination.

The Crazies--A whole lot of creepy fun. My leg is a little sore from how tight my wife's grip on it was for nearly the entire film. Didn't want a particular character to die about 2/3 of the way through the movie, but now I might have to see her in the upcoming release of "The Ward."

For the Animation Challenge, I just watched the animated short Carrotblanca from the Casablanca Blu-ray. Fun stuff, and a testament to how all-out Warner Bros. really went in preparing supplemental features.

A Prophet. Absolutely a must see. Essential work. Thanks for the recommendation Sessa.

I've written my own review of the film for my blog, Cinema Dailies, if anyone is interested.

Very glad not just that you watched it & liked it, but that you had the same reaction as I did that it is one of those "wow" movies that is just superb filmmaking. The directing has just enough flare & style to really elivate the material from similar films & the last 30 minutes of the film & final scene make it a classic IMO, plus I just loved the lead performance. Also I dig the blog, I wish I had time to do something like that. I couldn't tell from your review on Angel of Death, but were you aware that it was a bunch of on-line short films, not an actual movie release.

Thanks for the compliments and observations Sessa! And while I was aware Angel of Death was actually a series of online shorts, I tried watching it as it premiered back in the day but just couldn't get into it. I really did feel as though it played pretty well as a DVD film though, in comparison (IMHO).

A Prophet, to discuss that some more, was just so brilliant... I wish I owned it already as it's a film I definitely want to revisit and maybe even show to some friends if I get the chance. I can't seem to find a good price on it right now though.

8 1/2 - One of those movies I've seen at least 30 times (7 times in theaters) & I still never get sick of it. Just so glad to have movies like these on Blu-Ray.

^ Hey Sessa17, did you happen to watch your copy of TGTBTW yet? Reviews for the US release are still trickling in (so far only DVDActive and HomeTheaterForum). I'm still curious about how the PQ holds up.

No sorry, when I buy stuff it just goes into my piles & piles of unwatched stuff & then either someone else pics a movie out to watch or I just pull one without looking. I did put it near the top of a pile though so hopefully soon.
