My first viewing of Death Proof. Tarantino is a masterful filmmaker. I went in with low expectations, walked away quite pleased with the entire experience.

I watched Shutter Island and Red Cliff part 2. Shutter Island was great.. but I didn't quite get it. So I will be watching that one again sooner than later. Red Cliff was very good.

About half of Sherlock Holmes couldn't make it through any more. I'm sure everyone here loves it, I just thought it was soooo boring. Felt exactly like what it was, Sherlock turned into a Pirtates of the Caribean-esque big adventure blockbuster. Love RDJ, just couldn't get into him as Holmes & all the fighting & action.

I felt the same way, which is weird because there's really nothing I can point to as being the cause of feeling so detached from it. The production design was great, the actors were great, it was very well-directed, even the dialog had a nice snap to it - but it was still so boring and predictable.

Yeah the directing wasn't the problem it was actually quite good. There was one pretty bad actor from what I saw in the cookie-cutter villain. Wouldn't go as far as to call anyone in the film "great" though. Just adaqute, nothing more. Just felt like I've seen it all before. Dull film, for Sherlock the Granada series is a thousand times more riveting.

Sherlock Holmes was FAR from great. Anyone expecting it to be anything more than a Guy Ritchie movie with different writers and a cool performance from RDJ were mistaken to think so. That said, I'd love to get it on Blu-ray eventually. I enjoyed it as an action movie.

Hancock Finally took a chance on it for $9.99 and it was much better than I expected. And when Charlize shows up at Hancock's place in that black outfit, that was what I imagined gave birth to the idea of high definition.

I watched about 30 minutes of Red Cliff: International Version - Part One and took it off. I just detest John Woo as a director with everything he's done. I couldn't get into it and doubt that I ever will. The film looked pretty and certainly sounded great on Blu-ray, but 30 minutes in it seemed like there was no story and no reason to care about anything going on. I've never liked Woo's style of action and this film appears to be no different... a glorified, stylish (but not particularly appealing to my sensibilities) Kung Fu flick for people who love ACTION above all else.

I also couldn't stand that this historical epic looked more like a graphic novel. I've never been a fan of this kind of "flashy" film-making style.

Went to Trivia night at our local pub on Monday and they had a question about Billy Madison. So yesterday I popped in that one on HDDVD. I really can't stand Adam Sandler's stupid sing-songy voice.

Had surgery today on my leg and came home to recover by watching the fantastic extended version on Blu Ray of Leon The Professional. Also watched the hour of extras. Interesting stuff.

The Hangover - My gf and I are going to Vegas on Sunday, and she's never seen this, so it seemed like a good choice. This was my second time seeing it and I enjoyed it more than I did the first time around. I still think it's overrated, though.

Ninja Assassin - The ending was quite cool and kick ass but the first hour was a total borefest trying to tell their backgrounds. PQ was solid but movie gets a C+ grade.

Last Year at Marienbad

I found this to be one of the most unwatchable Criterions. I've seen a lot of them and it was bad. Nice cinematography but I absolutely detested the way it was told.

I hated this movie too. Easily my least favorite film from the Criterion Collection that I have seen.
