Ice Age: Good, not hilarious but entertaining.
Ice Age 2 The Meltdown: Meh, I could do without the two possums but not bad by any means.
Ice Age 3 Dawn Of The Dinosaurs: No just no, boring to the point of turning it off after an hour.

Saw it like over 10 years ago, I was a kid, didn't really remember it. I've never been a huge Jarmusch fan (I know thats crazy to say). Will definitely pick it up at the B&N sale.

I actually do like this film.

I liked it too. Although not as good as the other 2 in the series it is entertaining enough for me. The only part I didn't like was the impersonation scene, that was kind of hokey.

More Star Trek TOS (Mudd's Women) (HDDVD)
Then threw in Jerry Maguire (Blu Ray). First time I've seen it since it originally came out to theaters. I like most all of Cameron Crowe's films. This one still hits some good emotional peaks. But now all I can think is... What the hell happened to Cuba Gooding Jr.'s career?

Kingdom of Heaven (2005) - Epic. It deserves being watched on a big screen.

^ and a really good surround sound system

just watched

Mary and Max - the transfer is amazing and so tactile, I wanted to reach in and touch the animated characters. Interesting though the DTS-HD MA track is not listed on the back bluray case, but is listed incorrectly as Dolby Digital 5.1

The Edge - Love the movie, holds up really well one of Mamet's more underrated. Love the way Hopkins & Baldwin play off each other. Outstanding transfer that does the gorgeous scenery justice. And the bear is still utterly amazing. Wish it had some extras though.

Armageddon An example of a movie I hated when I saw it on VHS but loved it on DVD with surround sound. New York under attack with the WTC taking hits, a drilling rig accident, all sorts of raw stuff

PQ and AQ 4/5 Awesome disc

Boondock Saints II-I'm sure there is an audience for this one but spent too much time on trying to be cool and not enough time on making an interesting movie.

Shutter Island- It's a different experience seeing the film a second time, much different from the first viewing. Now that I know how it plays out, during the second viewing I can pay attention and understand why certain doctors/nurses said or acted as they did. It makes more sense the second time around, everything connects to the climatic ending.

The image quality of the Blu Ray was solid. The disc wasn't quite as good as the print I saw at the cinema, but HD prints usually aren't. The transfer was good, it replicated the original prints grain nicely, and the colors seemed very accurate to the original 35mm print. One thing that impressed me was that the black levels looked very good. With 2k DI's it's common to get milky blacks, but there didn't appear to be any here. The sound was also decent, but nothing special. I would have liked to hear more activity from the rear speakers, there are a few scenes that could have really used it more, but overall it was nice.

I loved Shutter Island, and this is probably the wrong thread for this comment, but I must add I figured it out right off the bat, and everything during the movie only added to my suspicions. Still a great movie though. I'll have to get it sometime.

Last Watched:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I love these movies, they are truly among my all time favorites, and The Return of the King is the best of the bunch. I marathoned all three of these yesterday.

End of Evangelion: You Are (Not) Alone. Great movie. Enjoyed it a lot more than I was anticipating. It felt like it took all the great elements of the show, and amplified them to the tune of better animation and, ultimately, more concise storytelling. A must for anime fans.

Wings of Desire
. Believe it or not - I had never seen this before. Absolutely breathtaking. I was so moved by this movie (it brought me to tears at the end). I wasn't sure I'd like this one prior to giving it a rent, and I ended up loving it. I'll be adding this to my collection during the next Criterion sale.

That like me & Mystery Train recently (sans the tears). I haven't seen Wings of Desire before either, I blind-bought it when it came out its still somewhere in my massive unwatched pile. I'm looking forward to watching it eventually.

Last I watched was about 10 eps the Clone Wars Cartoon Season 1. Another bling-buy. Really enjoying it, not a huge Star Wars fan, hate prequel movies, only seen them once. This series is a lot of fun though.
