The Exorcist
Blu-ray .com is reporting....
The Exorcist Coming Next Fall Posted October 20, 2008 02:11 PM by Josh Dreuth In an interview with DVD Review, director William Friedkin mentioned that, not only does he love Blu-ray, but he is also scheduled to begin work on a 'The Exorcist' Blu-ray on December 2nd. No extras were discussed, but with so much great material available for the legendary horror film, we can only imagine the possibilities. The release is currently scheduled for a Fall 2009 |
now which of the two commentaries will be included on this release?
|
I'll have to keep my eye out on this.
Wouldn't mind replacing my Special Edition DVD |
I look forward to hearing the specs and features for this, presumably nine to eleven months from now.
|
This better include both cuts of the film!
|
WB, you better not screw this PQ up!!!
I think "The Exorcist" and "Leon" are tied with the title I've purchased the most in various formats and versions. But bring on the BDs. Both of them. |

God I hope not. The "writer's cut" or whatever it was called was terrible. I hope they have disowned it.

Hopefully it's the one from the first release, where halfway through it becomes the recording sessions for the possessed voice. The other commentary is simply Friedkin describing what's happening on screen. Boring.
as for the other commentary, I agree - *snore* |
Fear of God documentary or no sale.

re: The Exorcist
Apparently William Friedkin is fucking up the transfer of this release by using a "pastel" process in order to present the originally intended feeling of New York grit. He already screwed the BD release of the French Connection using this crap.

re: The Exorcist
I think we should wait until we actually see the BD transfer before freaking out.

re: The Exorcist
I like the new cut of The Exorcist. Of course, I did not grow up with the original cut. I first watched the film around the time that the new cut was released. The spider walk freaked me out, and the other scenes that were added don't detract from the film in my opinion.
I'd like to see both cuts of the film on the Blu-ray. |

re: The Exorcist
Exorcist & French Connection on blu were two virtually guaranteed purchases for me. How they've manage to jeopardize this is beyond me.

 Warner |
re: The Exorcist
The power of GOD compels me to stay away from this.

re: The Exorcist
Uh, French Connection is Fox, not Warner...

re: The Exorcist
I didn't mind the new version... as long as the original version is included.
Maybe Friedkin will only mess with the new version and leave the original as is. |
The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
|
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
Oh, gees.
Well, hope its a DigiBook. |
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
Hmm it should include both. the docu from the first release and digibook. Id be in for that.
|
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
I want it, but only if Billy hasn't been fucking with it too much.
Oh, who am I kidding. This is mine. |
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
I'd rather have The Exorcist: The Version I Have Seen.

What an odd release. Why just this "version" !?

I'll pass until the original cut is released. |
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
No thanks, if Friedkin quits screwing with his prints and releases the theatrical, then I'll buy.
|
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
I'm also waiting for the theatrical. Not only is it a better movie, but it has a much better commentary.
|
re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
Not only is it "The Version You've Seen But Which is Inferior to the Better Version You've Also Seen", but the transfer will be de-colorized then re-colorized, a la French Connection.
This is all Friedkin's fault. Warner asked him, if there could only be one cut of the film on the disc, which should it be. He told them to make it the 2000 version. William Friedkin is an asshole. |

re: The Exorcist: TVYNS - 2010
I have a feeling they'll release the original cut after they get enough complaints, although we might be stuck with the "Friedkincolor." After all, they did decide to release the unrated cut of Natural Born Killers.
