Here's the BIG question: is the "Theatrical Cut" on the new Blu-ray the ACTUAL theatrical cut, or the one released on the 25th anniversary edition? There were a few minor "fixes" done to the 25th anniversary edition, the most jarring of which (to me) was the morph between Father Karras's eyes during the climactic wrestling match with Regan.
Besides the other items pointed out, this 'theatrical version' has 5.1 sound where the original release in 1973 was in mono. |
Re: The Exorcist
Thanks, Eddie, for clarifying. I'll take a pass on this release.

Re: The Exorcist
Pass for me as well, this is not the "original theatrical version".

Re: The Exorcist
Yeah, might as well wait for that "fixed" release. -rolleyes-
Watched it over the weekend and it is the absolute best it has ever looked. Sometimes 70s films only look slightly better than the DVD, well this isn't one of them. I'll miss the red logo, but that's a small price to pay to own this movie looking and sounding as good as it does. |
Re: The Exorcist
To be fair, I think the peeps above were just saying they were going to skip this, not that they expected it to be fixed.

Re: The Exorcist
Apparantly this is oop. It's selling for $45 minimum on Amazon. Luckily I found a used copy on Ebay for $15 shipped.

I'm pretty sure Reagan will be doing the macarena in the new version.
