I can assure you that I have seen those point limits on the website. I'll maybe look for it later.

This is great...unless you own the LG BH200. They recently stated they would not be supporting BD-Live with this player as they originally announced they would.

I'd be careful registering anything with DRM-crazed Sony...

Tried it out last night with Can't Hardly Wait for 100 points and it was pretty painless to set up. Looking at Gizmo's list, I have six of those Sony BD-Live discs, so I'm on my way.

I thought every Blu-ray disc had its own 'fingerprint' to distinguish it from all other copies of the same disc. If there is some sort of unique identifier, then you could register a disc you rent as long as no one before you had tried to register it.

This promotion sounds pretty great to me, personally.

Yes, each BD has its own fingerprint. I tried to register 2 different Walk Hard DVDs I purchased used at Gamestop, and a message appeared saying that the both disc were already registered. I imagine that the only way you could register a rental would be by being the first person to rent that specific disc and hope that none of the employees registered the disc before you.

One LG CSR did, but they have been proven to be wrong before. I'll hold out hope...but I'm not missing much without 2.0 anyway.

If anyone was worried about that, they wouldn't have a player in the first place that includes all the crazy DRM.

I agree. I am not an extras fanatic. Unless it is an excellent documentary, most extras get seen once or not at all. I haven't heard of any "must haves" for the Live stuff yet and am doubtful they will ever come.

I just wanted to get free stuff.

Just got The incredible Hulk and it allows people to chat while watching the film...we are so missing out.

Though I will pick up a cheap 2.0 player eventually. Right now I'm using my PS3 for some titles...but man do I hate that thing.

I've started using my LG for most BD movies, but don't mind going back to the PS3 for stuff like this. It is just so fast handling Java and it is wireless so I don't have to hassle with running a cable to the BD player. Not to mention I can get my DTS-MA decoded since I don't have an HDMI receiver that can handle that.

Watched Sleeping Beauty tonight and was kind of impressed with Disney's BDLive. Nice intergration with the rewards program on the web.

I have an LG HD DVD/Blu-ray combo player. Finally.

I'm hoping to just run a cable to my plasma TV to play Blu-ray movies now, thereby postponing the need for a BD50 (need cash for other stuff).

I have The Fall and Shrek the Third from Netflix right now so I will try to see what happens with a rental.

Heroes: Season 1 - Universal
Heroes: Season 2 - Universal

Hmm. Own these. Seems a little bit of a gyp if those two titles count for the same as say Men in Black.

You'll get points for The Fall if no one else has previously registered that particular rental disc copy, though the other titles you listed are not from Sony, so you won't get points for them regardless. As far as I see, this is a Sony-only sponsored program, but hopefully the other studios will implement something similar.

So to make sure I understand this right, any of these can be counted? I can register any of these by going to that section on the disc?

Actually, the system tells you if someone has already registered the disc before you get to the login screen.

I don't know where that list came from, but Shrek the Third didn't have any BDLive content. The copy of The Fall I had from Netflix registered without a problem.

So if you have a Sony credit card, this is maybe worth doing. Even then, looks like the prices through the reward program are about $10 higher than Amazon's, so the payback really is minimal and you'd actually pay more if you didn't have a Sony card and used the program. Kind of a joke, really. About on par with what I expect from Sony these days.

Only the ones saying Sony next to them.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, there are ways to get discounts on items and additional points, but it's probably not worth it for most people. Although, it only requires a couple of minutes out of each day. Even with the discounts, however, the prices certainly aren't good.

BD-Live - Sony Reward Points

According to the SonyRewards.com I can register my BD-Live™ enabled Blu-ray Disc™ titles and earn 100 points per registration. I don't understand exactly how this works though. I put in Transformers and when to the BD-Live under Special Features. I had to create a sign-in but how does that know to link to my SonyRewards accounts?

I wasn't trying to annouce this but rather state that I don't understand how the registration knows to credit my already existing Sony Rewards points balance.
