Same here, I don't think that I've watched a single extra on any of the LOTR releases, yet.
I hate how there are different special features exclusive to the theatrical releases, the EEs, and the combo releases; so you have to own at least 9 sets to have everything. I'm sure the bastards will put exclusive stuff on the multiple Blu releases to.

I've watched all of the extras on these DVDs, save for the myriad commentaries. And they are among the best I've seen, with many being interesting and informative. But I have no desire to watch them again, nor do I care if they are on the BDs, although it would be a nice touch.
Like many others here, I prefer the extended editions — especially for FotR and TTT, didn't like RotK as much in either version — and will pass on the TEs. The DVDs are good enough for now. I have plenty of other stuff to watch while I wait for the EE BDs.

If we're lucky, the 1-disc BDs will include all of the extras from the TE DVDs, and then the bonus 7th disc will have the specially-produced doc from the LE DVDs that had both cuts.

As I mentioned a few posts up the page:
3 movie discs
3 extras discs
1 digital copy disc

I'm a total chump for upgrading everything to Blu, but, yeah. At this point im an EE purist and will never go back.

Do we know for sure that all the DCs are on 1 disc? All HD Digest says is each movie will have a digital copy. Fox gave every X-men movie its own DC disc.
And I thought I read the possibility that the movie discs will be bare-bones with no features added. That's why I was guessing Disc 7 was a bonus disc.

I've yet to get the "official" Press Release from Warner/Newline yet and since these are not due for another 5 months things can (and likely will) change. Look at Inkheart from a 3 disc set (BD, DVD, DC) to a BD DVD/DC.

I'll start betting that it'll be set-up like this...
- FOTR (Disc 1)
- FOTR: Digital Copy (Disc 2)
- TTT (Disc 3)
- TTT: Digital Copy (Disc 4)
- ROTK (Disc 5)
- ROTK: Digital Copy (Disc 6)
- Bonus Features (Disc 7)
The X-Men trilogy was nine discs and the Fast and the Furious trilogy was six discs.
Space shouldn't be an issue that they can easily contain the extras from the original DVDs PLUS the LE DVDs that came out a few years ago. Most of that will probably be straight MPEG-2 codecs directly from the DVD, so all of that can easily fit on the Blu-ray for the movies themselves and then have the LE documentaries sit on Disc 7.

If New Line released just the EEs people would be complaining about the lack of theatrical cuts. Just don't buy these if you don't want. The EEs will come, relax, plenty of other movies to buy.

They do not hear any other language than $$$, so lets speak loud and clear. NO EE (Both EE and TE should have been on the same set) - NO SALES!

If people don't buy the Theatrical Cuts they won't bring the EE or whatever the hell they are called to Blu-ray. So fans are kind of screwed.

I don't think New Line has to worry about people not buying these disks because they aren't the EEs, they'll sell well despite a small internet minority being unhappy that both cuts aren't on these disks.

I want the EE's but there is no way i am going to quadruple dip on these, as good as they are. Already bought and sold the regular dvds, then got the extended ones.

If you (and others above) haven't watched the extras on the LotR DVDs, why would you care if they have them or not? I don't get it.
I've watched all of the extras on these DVDs, save for the myriad commentaries. And they are among the best I've seen, with many being interesting and informative. But I have no desire to watch them again, nor do I care if they are on the BDs, although it would be a nice touch.

I have the EE's (won two of them at work at a Christmas party...who knew) and they are awesome.
Don't have the TE, but am curious to see those cuts, since I have only seen the EE's.
Also, is the only place to get the new docs on the last two disc release? I wanted to check that out, but didn't want to double dip on them.

Speaking of LOTR and double/quintuple dipping, this is just SD, but I noticed last night that Wal-mart has exclusive versions of the trilogy with digital copies. A completest has already spent several hundred dollars on all these SD versions, and probably has much more in store with several BD releases/exclusives.
