What's really backwards about it is that all theatrical IMAX presentations have lossless audio. I mean, a 35mm theatrical presentation is lossy, so the occasional movie disc with lossy is at least forgiveable, but if any BD releases should inherently include lossless audio, it's IMAX titles.

at least Image releases their IMAX blurays with lossless (DTS-MA no less).

a typical day at the Warner Home Video office:

Got some dates on Netflix. Tentative, as usual:

Slumdog Millionaire is apparently now due on March 31st.

Milk --> March 10th

The Wrestler --> April 21st

Decent titles...but I can't see myself paying $20 for a HD version of any of those. I'm getting more and more picky as time goes on and my shelf becomes filled.

Might get Ferris Bueller, never bought the SE of it on DVD. Something About Mary is good enough on DVD for me.

"Grease" will look terrible. It's one of the worst and ugliest shot movies I've ever seen from a major studio.

Not quite a classic but this was a pretty good little flick.

There was a loaded laserdisc release of this title (Pioneer Special Edition, I think?). I hope those special features make it to this Blu-Ray. They were not on the non-anamorphic DVD release.

You forgot to add quotation marks around the word Classic in the thread title.

I've heard this is a pretty crazy guilty pleasure of a movie. Something about how Charlie Sheen says at one point he "feels like a can of smashed assholes."

Hey, compared to "Independence Day", which was the other alien invasion movie from 1996, "The Arrival" is a masterpiece!

Same here. I feel like there's a ton of movies that I never should've bought on DVD in the first place. Now the studios want me to rebuy those movies in High Definition.

Im right there with both of you. The picture quality on some of these older titles is just not good enough to warrant me repurchasing them.

SO, they need to entice me with new special features, packaging and so on.

I watched Mary:SE on DVD the other night for the first time in years. It was great, pic quality was fine and I bet it wouldnt be a huge increase.

Now, Im sticking to only buying new releases and upgrading my absolute favorites.

The Da Vinci Code: Extended Cut 2-disc Set

No date yet, but I'm sure we'll get an announcement soon. Amazon has the listing up with cover art and a $38.96 list price.
