It's a new brand. The ChinaMex Broo-lay 10000.

Yeah...the prices and players keep changing almost daily, but it still seems like you can get a player + 4 movie for under $200. Stay away from the Sony 300 though if its being offered as its Profile 1.0 forever.

I don't understand why there are no major blu-ray deals on the biggest shopping weekend of the year. The studios, the BD association and the stores are dropping the ball big time by not pushing blu-ray in their sales.

The BDA pledged a $25 Million dollar campaign this Holiday season...so maybe in December? So far we got an ad on the bottom of USA today and some Wal-Mart commercials/ads.

I've actually been seeing quite a few ads for BD lately. It's the same one basically saying only Blu-ray has all the best movies in HD or something to that effect. It even takes a note from Toshiba by saying only Blu-ray has perfect picture, perfect sound etc.

Sears will have the Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Disc Player for $179.99 as an early bird special. Guess that it's a decent deal if you're a Sony fanboy and don't mind having to upgrade the firmware every time a new disc comes out. I'll probably hold out until I can get a deal on the Panasonic DMP-BD55K. Looks like the right player for me anyway. It plays divx files so I won't have to keep my Philips DVD player.

The best retail deals last year came after BF... at least in terms of movies.
FYI that same Sony player (350) is $179 on Thanksgiving Day at K-Mart.

That last sentence is based on what? The 350 is a very highly rated player.

AND if you don't mind getting up at O-dark thirty, and waiting out in the cold to fight the unwashed masses just to save a couple bucks.....no thanks, I'll sleep in that day, and pay a few extra to have stuff delivered to my house.

Amazon will offer thousands of Blu-ray and standard-def titles at 40% to 60% discounts Nov. 26 through Dec. 2.
“We know that people want low prices, and that’s what we will continue to focus on,” Amazon spokeswoman Tammy Hovey said.
DVDEmpire.com will hold its first Black Friday sale dedicated exclusively to Blu-ray. The online seller will market the event as ‘Blu Friday’ and will offer hefty discounts on major and indie studio titles Nov. 28-30.

Correct. Which means you should also be able to get this at Best Buy since their Black Friday explanation is usually that they won't match the "doorbusters" or limited time ads. But it's a big YMMV. I'll try at BB just because I like their warranties and they're reasonably priced.

Going to Fry's tomorrow morning to pick up Spider-Man BD trilogy, Pirates BD trilogy and Planet Earth BD each for $37.99 and whatever else they have up for sale. Haven't seen the Fry's ad anywhere else except for 2 back pages in today's paper.
