HD DVDs were never that cheap either until HD DVD died. I'm hoping we see a nice selection of titles for 15 or less.

I should have pointed out that subtle fact about the "quality" of the $9.99 ones....that doesn't change the fact they they do sell some for $9.99, no matter how bad the releases are.

But yes, many of the $13.99 titles have been catalogue, and many are new within 3 months of their initial release. I tend to like the Sony catalogues, like Men In Black, and Life of Brian which I just got for that price. And at least they seem to rotate the selection as well.

I never stated they were as we are discussing Blu-ray in this thread.

Well, with any luck, my local fry's will have realized by Black Friday that they're not gonna get $8.99 apiece for those hundreds of HD-DVDs they've had sitting at the front of the store in a sale display since June.

Many got marked down to $7.99 or less - Weinstein titles are $2.99-$3.99! I'm just waiting for new titles..Warner must have thousand sittings somewhere...

Dealnews has started making its Black Friday electronics sales predictions, and they're looking good if you're waiting to buy Blu-ray: $149.

The best deal on Blu-rays in store came later than Black Friday last year. Lots of B1G1s in store. I'd personally like to see one of the good profile 2.0 players bundled with 2-3 free movies of my choosing. Or the return of the 5-movie rebate. That might be one way to spur sales of players (but not movies).

Well, Sears' Black Friday stuff is up. Not thrilled with their BD deals. That Sony player at $179 is interesting though.

Yes, but that had more to do with the format war. We haven't seen near as many quality sales since late last year/early this year.

At least not yet...

At this point, I think our best chances for a sale on BD's is going to be a B1G1 on select titles, and many a $14.99.

Damn... I still remember that killer Amazon FOX BOGO that some of us combined with the Amazon Visa and HD 10% discount.

Those were the days.....

Just read this from imdb.com, looks like one of the big pushes for Blu Ray sales will include bundling Dark Knight with hardware:

"Many of the Dark Knight discs, the trade publication said, will be bundled with hardware, including Blu-ray players and game devices. "If a household is on the fence about making a Blu-ray player or PS3 purchase, this title can be influential in making that happen," Warner Home Video's Dorinda Marticorena told Video Business. The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday that several major studios and consumer electronics firms plan to spend $25 million during the holiday season as part of their "Tru Blu" campaign to promote Blu-ray releases."

Yea... I dont know, i'm certainly a bit disappointed so far. Hopefully Target has a BD deal or two. I'm sure I'll end up getting a few of the $11.99 titles at CC that I dont already have.

The Target and CC ads are out. They all pretty much suck for BD and DVD. I'm really disappointed.

I believe Sharp's BDHP21U is going on sale for $179 on Sunday(11/16) if i'm not mistaken. And the model seems to be a big improvement from the 20U, which Sharp seems to be doing a 180 on their LCD models since the new 85U models seem to look a lot better than the 64 series.

Is the 21u the one with the Blu-ray and DVD logo that lights up? Or is that the 50u?

Honestly i'm not sure we just got it put out on the floor a few days ago. I know it looks really good on Sharp's LC46D85U(i still prefer Panasonic's plasmas, but for the price the Sharp isn't bad). Which again i thought even blu-rays looked like crap on their 64 models.
I haven't got to play with the new player yet, i know the 20 model was a pain since for a firmware update you had to go to Sharp's website and download the update on a jumpdrive instead of just plugging your player up with a ethernet cable.
