I finally got to see DK in Hong Kong after champing at the bit for a month up in north China. I might be able to see the IMAX version there before I leave. if not I will catch it at home where I expect it to play for months.

Excited about the Blu Ray and it will probably encourage a new TV purchase.

What about doing seamless branching for the IMAX scenes? Having a choice seems the best method to me.

You try acting in an emotional or romantic scene when there's a camera as loud as a lawnmover six inches from your face.

The Digital Bits mentioned in their rumor mill that TDK BD will have 2 releases: 3-disc set and a limited edition version. I'm glad the extras will be on their own disc. I'm sure the 3rd disc is the ultra cool digital copy.

I'll be there on Day 1. I can't wait! Thanks for the info.

RocShemp 08-28-08 02:40 PM

I'd love me a limited edition. Especially if it's like the limited edition DVD that will feature a Batpod scale replica. Now if the limited edition is just a third disc with a digital copy of the film, count me out.

Something in size and quality to the BB BR limited edition would be nice.

I'll wait and see on the box set contents but will own this in some form.

It sounds as though the standard release is the 3-disc version, which most likely contains the digital version.

Ah. I missread your earlier post. Sorry. Well, here's hoping they don't jack up the price for something only some will use.

This is unconfirmed, from blu-ray.com:

The PlanetaHD site from Spain is reporting the first detailed information about the audio and supplements to be included on Warner's 'The Dark Knight' Blu-ray Disc release. The highly anticipated title will have a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack and will be issued in a two-disc edition.

In addition to the movie itself, the first disc will include the "Gotham Discovered: The Creation of a Scene" extra where Director Christopher Nolan and his collaborators unveil details on the planning of the movie, including stunt double work, how the filming in IMAX was done and information about the new Bat-suit, Bat-pod, etc.

The second disc will include the following documentaries: "Batman Technology: Gadgets and Tools" (in HD), "Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight" and "The World of Batman Seen Through Real Life Psychotherapy" (in HD), 6 clips from the Gotham Cable Premier's newscast: "Tonight in Gotham", plus art galleries on the Joker's letters, conceptual art, posters, production stills, trailers, and TV spots.

The Batman Unmasked thing looks like the thing that aired on the History Channel before Dark Knight's release. It was just ok for an hour show.

So, here's hoping the US version will get the TrueHD track, too, huh?

For the record, I'm betting the US version will be identical, but lately WB has been making itself far too easy a target for [totally justifiable] criticism/suspicion.

NiCK Crush 09-22-08 03:35 PM

Please, let us get the Blu-ray Steelbook in the States.

Blu-Ray.com is reporting....
In an early report to retailers, Warner Home Video UK has revealed that they will release the Christian Bale blockbuster 'The Dark Knight' for Blu-ray on December 8th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The two-disc set will likely feature those specs recently reported, including a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

With the UK date now semi-officially in place, it is likely that the US release date will soon been announced for December 9th.

DVDTown has an image of the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray cover art. Looking good.

If there is a choice between Batman and Joker covers, ill easily go with Joker. He made the movie.

So did Speed Racer (on the print ad) :(

Giles 09-26-08 05:23 PM

yet I really doubt Warner's would shaft this bluray of a trueHD audio = this is THE money maker title for them this year, of course I could be wrong.

gryffinmaster 09-26-08 05:27 PM

Probably means nothing concrete, but the back only lists a 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

Supermallet 09-26-08 05:27 PM

If Warner didn't include lossless on this title, they'd have some 'splaining to do!

fumanstan 09-26-08 05:35 PM

The bat pod looks cool but I don't like the idea of having the discs in there. I think i'd prefer a normal case. So many covers!
