Something in size and quality to the BB BR limited edition would be nice.
|
I'll wait and see on the box set contents but will own this in some form.

groovey! [crickets chirping] ... |

I'd love me a limited edition. Especially if it's like the limited edition DVD that will feature a Batpod scale replica. Now if the limited edition is just a third disc with a digital copy of the film, count me out.

Ah. I missread your earlier post. Sorry. Well, here's hoping they don't jack up the price for something only some will use.

This is unconfirmed, from blu-ray.com:
The PlanetaHD site from Spain is reporting the first detailed information about the audio and supplements to be included on Warner's 'The Dark Knight' Blu-ray Disc release. The highly anticipated title will have a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack and will be issued in a two-disc edition. In addition to the movie itself, the first disc will include the "Gotham Discovered: The Creation of a Scene" extra where Director Christopher Nolan and his collaborators unveil details on the planning of the movie, including stunt double work, how the filming in IMAX was done and information about the new Bat-suit, Bat-pod, etc. The second disc will include the following documentaries: "Batman Technology: Gadgets and Tools" (in HD), "Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight" and "The World of Batman Seen Through Real Life Psychotherapy" (in HD), 6 clips from the Gotham Cable Premier's newscast: "Tonight in Gotham", plus art galleries on the Joker's letters, conceptual art, posters, production stills, trailers, and TV spots. |
The Batman Unmasked thing looks like the thing that aired on the History Channel before Dark Knight's release. It was just ok for an hour show.
|
For the record, I'm betting the US version will be identical, but lately WB has been making itself far too easy a target for [totally justifiable] criticism/suspicion. |
Please, let us get the Blu-ray Steelbook in the States.
|
Blu-Ray.com is reporting....
In an early report to retailers, Warner Home Video UK has revealed that they will release the Christian Bale blockbuster 'The Dark Knight' for Blu-ray on December 8th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The two-disc set will likely feature those specs recently reported, including a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. With the UK date now semi-officially in place, it is likely that the US release date will soon been announced for December 9th. |
DVDTown has an image of the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray cover art. Looking good.

If there is a choice between Batman and Joker covers, ill easily go with Joker. He made the movie.

Nice. Hey, there's even a TrueHD logo on the back!:)
|
yet I really doubt Warner's would shaft this bluray of a trueHD audio = this is THE money maker title for them this year, of course I could be wrong.
|
Probably means nothing concrete, but the back only lists a 2.40:1 aspect ratio.
|
If Warner didn't include lossless on this title, they'd have some 'splaining to do!
|
The bat pod looks cool but I don't like the idea of having the discs in there. I think i'd prefer a normal case. So many covers!
|
Halle-fuckin'-lujah!
Fuck Christmas, this is all mine on release day. |
I'm not crazy about these limited editions that house the discs in something other than a regular Blu-ray case. I might get the limited edition just to have it, then buy the regular BD for watching.

I love the slipcover, but I'm a little surprised that the actual BD cover appears to be the Joker poster art. I wonder if it will be reversible and have the Batman/Burning Bat symbol art on the other side. I'd love a BD steelbook with the slipcover art, but I don't think that's going to happen.
As for the Limited edition, I always initially geek out at those things, but then I think about it and ask myself if I would buy the other stuff on its own if it was available separately and the answer is almost always no. So, I'll probably just get the regular BD release. When I see that limited edition in person though, I may change my mind. |

2 Disc BD for me. Not interested in some cheap plastic toy that houses the discs.
|
I'll wait to see the quality of the Limited edition Batpod, if it's nice I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I'll stick with the regular BD edition.
With all those covers, Xage must be preparing to sell a kidney... |
Well, it seems like it's only 1 cover and slipcover. If a store offers an exclusive slipcover I'll probably pick that up. Cause the slipcover art is terrible.

slipcover is brutal
guess it was let the interns handle the artwork day over at WB |
I wonder what the exclusives are going to look like for this. I'm not sure what to expect since I was seriously underwhelmed with the exclusives for Iron man.
|
That slip cover was a theatrical poster for the film. So is the inside cover. Don't know what the complaints are there. True, the Batpod was the weakest of the theatrical posters, but it's not new art made for home video.
|
I hated all the Joker posters except the "Why So Serious" blood one, which is, coversely, one of the coolest ever. I'm not a fan of what the color design of the posters do to him.
I'll be getting the Batpod, though. |
I like the art. I think the batpod poster was cool enough and the Joker inside cover art is great...can't wait for this one!
|
Nice looking covers. Will think about the Bat Pod set but nice slipcovers always sucker me in.

In addition to being posted at DVDActive, it seems it's also the official announcement. Shame they don't go into more detail about the content but at least it confirms IMAX and BD-Live. |
BD-Live will probably be the feature where you can chat with your friends while watching the film.
