Can you pause the movie when watching one of the video commentaries? Or fast forward and rewind for that matter?

If it hits 2 million, does that mean the EE disappears? 'cause that'd be neat-o.
Oh, I kid. I kid. |
Good for Nolan and co. Now let's hear word of a third film, please.
|
1.7 million? That's really awesome! Can't wait for number 3!
|
:bow::bow: All hail the bat!
|
Excellent news on the sales figures. Also, it appears digital copies are here to stay. That 300,000 number is incredible.
|
Now that I have an iPhone, I've begun to better appreciate the digital copy thing, especially for titles I buy in BR.

This one is much easier to see. Just be warned, after you see it the first time you'll probably see it in every freakin' movie you watch from now on. So, if I were you, I'd not even bother..
EDIT: It's in the second picture. Well, it's in both, but the second picture is the Blu-ray. |
So how much of the 1.7 is actually American and Canada?
Edit: Oh, I see. They didn't actually make note to say how much each region did. Very good spin, Warner! Next time, bold this (though I can see why you wouldn't): The worldwide numbers include retail and rental sales in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Benelux, and Australia |

So not only is Warner counting copies sold at Best Buy, Target, but also ones that were "sold" to rental stores like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. All around the globe. |
Congrats to the Bat. I'll have to watch mine again.

Isn't that how all DVD sales are computed?
However, counting those numbers does take something away when comparing TDK sales to The Matrix 's sales on DVD since DVD was not really a rental format at that point, IIRC. |

Does anyone know? It would be unfair to compare TDK's sales to Iron Man if they aren't being counted in the same way.

I was under the impression that rental sales are typically included in everything as well.
Still, glad to hear the Dark Knight did well. Movies like this are what entices people to get them in the best presentation possible  |

The Nielsens do not consider copies sold to rental places as "sales" IIRC (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). This is the first time, besides Transformers HD DVD (when ever got into a tizzy), when rental copies were counted. For whatever reason, Warner decided to count sales in numerous countries and rental sales to produce a big number for DVD and BD.

This is prob not important or has been discussed but has anyone noticed the framing is different? I took the same frame from the trailer and Blu-ray and was a little surprised the framing on the BR was lower in this specific scene. And you can clearly see the color difference too. Like I said, it's prob been discussed to death but I didn't know... heh.

Very true. It was tough to rent DVDs in 1999...while now you can get BDs at almost any rental place, online, RedBox etc.

Nolan says he is jotting notes and doing some rough outlines for a third story, but he hasn't yet found anything he's willing to commit to film, despite Warner Bros.' eagerness to get a new film underway. "It was obvious when the box office was so big ($530 million domestically) that we had underestimated how ready fans were to reboot the franchise," he says. "The worst thing you could do now that you've gotten the plane back in the air is mess up the landing." Didn't it take him nearly a year or so to finish the script for Dark Knight? |
I say let him take as long as he needs. He obviously doesn't want to screw this up. Pushing him with some ridiculous deadline would only lead to a poorly constructed product. I'd rather see the steady improvement we've seen from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight continue. Perhaps he should tackle a different project altogether like how he did The Prestige after Batman Begins.

Also, congrats to Warner and the Dark Knight. Those numbers are impressive (for both DVD and BD) no matter how you slice them.

Hey has anyone with the Panasonic BD35 tried watching/listening to the commentaries (via BD-Live) got it to work? I've tried a couple of times but the movie streams but no commentary. I do have secondary audio set to on, although while streaming both the PiP and Secondary Audio are off...

And they suggest logging into BD-Live 15 minutes ahead of time.
