For a competent e-tailer, I'd agree, but we're talking about Borders... In theory, they could just be getting around to charging your credit card from your original order (as Borders theoretically charges when you place the order, not when they ship the item). But anyway, again, if you do get it, that is great. I would call them if I were you to double-check. If they tell you what they have told pretty much everyone else, which is that they have no stock of these titles, then you should demand they reverse the charge on your credit card.

CES 2009 (hopefully, release date keeps changing)? If not, buy from Amazon.ca, just giving people a friendly heads-up if they want the title with Special Features. No idea if its going to have the same transfer/audio though.

Shouldn't that information be on the DVD bargains forum?

My wallet and my wife would like to give a shout out to the CH execs for leaving Blu-ray out of this sale.

Does anyone know if the UK Omen Trilogy is region coded? I am tempted to get that because I don't want the remake, and I could use it in the 3 for 3 deal.

Well, in case you're up for some super-awesome deals, Disney Movie Club is having a never-before-seen 2 Blu-ray titles for $25...each. Yep, that's $50 for 2 titles. But act now. Supplies are limited. Only one purchase per account as this deal is too spectacular and unimaginable.

I ended up cancelling. The rep on the phone said if the order stays open for 30 days, they will do an authorization on the card (hold the funds) and wait 30 more days to see if the items come in stock. I went ahead and canceled since there's about a 0% chance of the Sopranos sets coming in stock.

Sorry to hear that, but can't say I'm surprised. Not that this HD-DVD debacle was the be-all end-all, but the experience has soured me enough on Borders that I am really trying to not give them any of my business. Their handling of this one little "sale" has been horrible, from keeping orders open indefinitely, not having accurate stock information, having their computers down time after time when I tried to cancel, not giving a crap about their customers generally, apparently now charging credit cards without any chance of shipping the item, etc.

Their 30% off list price coupons are not quite enough to lure me back to them.

I'm no market analyst, but the writing is on the wall for Borders, and their days are numbered. Financially, they've had a very difficult go of it in the last year, almost selling out, but restructuring at the last minute.

People have pretty much stopped buying CDs altogether, and their DVD/BD prices are scandalous. I guess they still sell some discounted books, but B&N eats their lunch. Their new website is atrocious, and there is no reason to shop there when Amazon, et al are so much better organized and priced.

In this economy with so many "solid" chains folding up, I can't see Borders making it to 2010.

Borders' stock has been under a buck for a while now. I just hope that I can unload my remaining gift cards before they file for Chapter 11 or 7.

As long as they have a liquidation sale I'll be all over it. My local Borders gets shopped alot, but it's mostly for books. I can usually find alot of OOP dvds there though.

That's actually a good sign that they are still selling gift cards. I'm pretty sure that there's a law that a store cannot knowingly sell gift cards when they are about to go out of business. My guess for Borders is that they will do a mass closing of locations to start and will hang it up sometime next Fall.

Firefly Complete Series Blu-ray for $29.95 CAD at Amazon.ca
Thanks! I nabbed that, along with the CDN$13.95 Sin City.

Even after shipping, the total for the two was only ~US$45. Best price on Firefly alone is about $58!

A pawn shop I went to had "4 movies for $20/$5 each".

I picked up 3. He asked if I wanted one more for $20.

I asked if they're still $5 each if I get 3(since maybe I read the sign wrong or something).

He said they were.

I only bought 3 and regret that decision to this day. I could have had another one and gotten 4 for $20 instead of 3 for only $5 each.

Thanks for the tip. I picked up all the Disney movies on BD I don't have this way. Awesome deal. Only around $250 for ten discs. Outstanding.
