Wow. great deal. In for 1.

PGHFlyer 08-05-08 09:09 PM

Currently $69.95 at Amazon so a good deal, but I am betting another 30% will come along before this is released and WB isn't great on canceling.

I forgot all about this deal. But I was figuring it would be something for the Romero zombie movies. Forgot all about this series.

Has anyone seen any good deals on Doomsday? I rented it and was blown away. Yes, it's derivative and mindless, but it's probably also the most enjoyable film I've watched in a while.

Adam Tyner 08-06-08 01:34 PM

That makes two of us in Simpsonville stickin' up for Doomsday. :)

Zen Peckinpah 08-06-08 01:59 PM

Make that three. What a friggin' blast that movie was.

Moopher 08-06-08 02:22 PM

I absolutley loved it, it went in a direction I never even dreamed of.

This sale is still ongoing, for the third week in a row. I should say that (in Houston, at least) it doesn't really seem like 200 films, and they were mixing up the 9.99 titles with 11.99 titles. Having said that, there are a few films that are definitely worth it at 9.99 if you haven't got them already... while the rest are stuff that I personally would not buy unless they got cheaper, considering it is a dead format.

Don't blame you. My local Fry's has had this giant sale display up for at least six weeks, and the HD-DVDs are still just sitting there.

Keep in mind Fry's has boxed of HD DVDs everywhere throughout the store. So while it may appear they are not moving, they have hundreds of copies of each film and they re-stock the shelves pretty damn fast.

I posted an image for the rebate in the Transformers BD thread. Sucks HD DVD owners are left out in the cold.

That's awesome! I know there is no coding for HD DVD, but, since this is a HD DVD Combo, is the DVD side region coded?

Yes. Whatever region the UK is. Plus its PAL anyway...so unless you have an Oppo or a region free player you won't be playing the DVD side.

The HD DVD side is still region free.

BTW, My copy has already shipped.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping all the new extras are on the HD side.

Nice! Looks like I have a little extra incentive to buy The Godfather, not that I really needed one.

Any ideas how the Godfather one will work? There are single disc releases and the box set on DVD, and for Blu-ray, only the box set of all films has been announced, correct?

So, which DVD (single and/or box set) will apply ... and does it apply to the purchase of the Blu-ray box set?

Gizmo 08-18-08 04:10 PM

It appears to be Boxset only for UPC (at least that's what the iinsert appears to be telling me)

N0treDom 08-18-08 05:58 PM

Are they offering this rebate for those who bought the first dvd boxset or those who will buy the Coppola Restored dvd boxset and then upgrade to Blu-ray? or does this apply to both situations? Thanks.

$50.77 at deepdiscount.com

BuckNaked2k 08-19-08 07:02 AM

How is one supposed to get the UPC from the Godfather DVD boxset? Didn't it come on a flimsy paper that was glue-tacked to the back of the box? I don't think I kept that.

Or are we supposed to slice off the UPC from the heavy cardboard case?

The Proposition is $16.99 on Borders.com before any discounts. I used the current 30% code from the Borders coupon thread. BR4993 .Used the free ship to store option and my total was $11.89. Needed to find something cheap to use some Borders credit.
