Speedy just posted the Best Buy prices and lists the Bonds as Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook packaging.

My local Best Buy had Casino Royale: 2 Disc Collector's Blu-ray today (YMMV). I didn't buy it but it does have a slipcover.

I wonder how many steelbooks each Best Buy is going to have. I am having a problem deciding between going the cheaper Circuit City route and getting plain cases or going with the steelbooks at Best Buy.

I posted this in the BB prices thread but wanted to get the HD guys opinions/knowledge on this: Wonder if they will do a Casino Royale Steelbook to match the ones being released at the same time. It would stand to reason that they would do one for each movie. Why leave out the new Casino Royale re-release?

And it appears you are paying $15 more for the 3 BD steelbooks instead of the collections. Do you think it is worth the price difference?

I think this comes down entirely to personal preference. Do you want to own all of the Bond movies without caring about having them chronologically on your shelf? If so, the collections make sense. Do you only care about some of them or is having them in chronological order on your shelf important? Then choose between the regular case individual releases and the steelbooks.

I'm pretty bummed, it appears that Casino Royale is not going to be a Steelbook.

Absolutely, the Steelbooks will (at worst) hold their value, & most likely increase... how much will depend on how many are pressed of course. On the other hand, those Amazon sets will depreciate pretty fast IMO.

personally i think the collections suck. they stick thunderball and from russia with love together, which is good. but what do they put it with? dr. no, a third connery flick? no, roger moore's for your eyes only (which is not a bad movie but it is definitely not up to the level of the other two at least imho).

also, you are getting a free movie ticket for each $25 steel book film (and you only buy what movies you want -- not what three movie collection sony wants you to buy), which reduces your "true" price greatly. i don't think best buy is going to give you more than one ticket per collection (which is three films). if you figure the two extra tickets are worth $7.50 each it ends up being an extra $15 (which is the difference in price).

Good point! Anyone going to try to price match the steelbooks with the CC ad?

And it sucks to hear no steelbook for Casino Royale. That makes no sense.

Maybe they need to come up with sufficiently crappy cover art before they can do a steelbook for CR.

Although, aren't the Bond steelbooks they have now designed to just hold one disc, while the new CR is 2 discs? Also consider that there are two different studios involved (Fox/MGM for the old ones, Sony for CR).

Wait, the steelbooks are coming with movie cash? I may have to get them at Best Buy, then.

Edit: Wow, not just steelbooks, but any Bond movie on Blu-ray and DVD. Might have to grab the Pierce Brosnan one they're releasing, and the new Casino Royale set as well.

I picked up the 'From Russia With Love' steelbook tonight at Best Buy. I guess they accidently broke street date. They come out next week, right? They only had 'Dr No' and this out there. 'From Russia with Love' is probably my second (maybe third) favorite Bond film.

It did come with e-movie cash.

I would assume AMC theaters are not included. I really want to see 'Quantum of Solace' at the Uptown.

How much was it? Its $24.99 on sale next week, but $29.99 on their site. I wouldn't mind picking some up early, but not if I have to pay $5 for the privilege.

Yes. It was $ 29.99. I figured that it was more because of the fact it was a steelbook. Plus I didn't plan on picking it up so I didn't research the price before I buy like I usually do.

The case is strange. It has two Disc holders but only comes with one disc. Has anyone seen that before?

Thanks for the reply. I think with Best Buy you can take your receipt in next week and get a refund on the $5 as they have a 30-day price guarantee, no?

Actually, I just checked this myself. You're good!

Already bought? If an item you purchased at Best Buy is advertised at a lower price at another Best Buy store in your local area or on BestBuy.com, we'll refund you the price difference from our own sale price, or 110% of the difference from our competitor's sale price, up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on select categories*, 60 days on HDTVs purchased from 7/27/08 through 10/04/08).

Either way, simply bring in proof of price while that lower price is in effect.

How many copies do you think Best Buy will have for each Bond movie in Steelbook? How many copies do they usually make for non-Blu-ray Steelbook exclusives and how quickly do they sell out?

A couple of the old Connery Bonds were on MGM HD earlier this year and looked good, so I'm glad to see the Blu-rays came out great.

E cash? Are those the ones you have to go online to redeem and then print out, and they only work for the movie in question? I fucking hate those things.

I was planning to hold off in purchasing the James Bond films on Blu-ray. But From Russia With Love looks really great! Okay, I am going to preorder all 6 films plus Casino Royale (2 Blu-ray set) now.
