Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

I'm debating on getting the 10 Costco bundle. I made the mistake of buying all the individual sets because I did on DVD just to have a complete set come out later.

But I just have to decide if I can handle 2 (hopefully) Costco bundles or hold off and wait and see if a complete set comes out. But oh how I hate waiting.

I'm deciding right now what to do....Its not looking good.

From HDD:

Here is the response I got from the marketing dept about why Best Buy is not carrying the steelbooks:

ATB Responded (03/18/09 12:33pm):
Here is what we heard back:
Because of the past performance of the Bond steelbooks, and the cost associated with the steelbooks, we could not afford to have this wave of Bond DVDs on steelbooks. Thanks
So Amazon picked them up...and who knows how well they will sell. They excluded them from their recent $5 off promotion (unless you e-mail Amazon asking for the discount...but there are probably only 100-300 or so people who did). This looks the end, my friend.

And what about the Volumes? Those are dead as well. Vol 3 instead of being that crappy cardboard packaging is just a slipcover with the movies stuck inside. While this IS better packaging than before, it still does not match the previous volumes.

WTF.

Seriously? They didn't stay consistent with Vol. 3? That makes absolutely no sense (but I must say, I hated the lack of cover graphics with 1 & 2).

I'm starting to think they need to wait on the box sets until all of the releases are out. I'm glad I've decided to collect them individually from now on.

Interesting, so by any chance do Vol. 3 and the Best Buy exclusive have the movies inside with slipcovers? I'm on the fence about buying them this way now, but I don't want to have some individual and some in a box. Yes, I'm that anal.

I have a friend at BB who said Vol 3 was just the individual movies in a box with no slipcovers.

I think I've decided to wait for a complete set after all the volumes come out.

Wow, I didn't know that about Volume 3. If I knew that I wouldn't have bothered going to Amazon route and ordered it from my friend at Fox for a bit cheaper. Oh well.

I don't know if they even continued with slip covers since my NSNA did not come with one :( (Though its not an official Bond...so there is hope)

Hahaha! Well, I'm still crossing my fingers that I'll be able to get steelbooks in the future. If not, it's not the end of the world. But still, how ridiculous that we can't get consistent packaging...

Best buy has two listings for the previously released Bond films. I am assuming one is the regular edition and the other is the steelbook. Can anyone tell me which is which?

Example:

Dr. No - Widescreen Dubbed Subtitle AC3
SKU: 9058191
Format: Blu-ray

Dr No (1962) (Bb)
SKU: 9014997
Format: Blu-ray

Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

If my memory serves me correctly they use the ''Bb" code for steelbooks.

Interesting, I wonder why? All 3 appeared to have shipped for me.

All my Bond Steelbooks and Quantum Of Solace shipped from Amazon, can't wait to get them.

All my my non-steelbooks shipped, along with Quantum.

Amazon says my steelbooks should be shipping on 3/30, I hope that actually happens.

I would think about getting QOS, TMWTGG, & LTK set if I knew no one was going to pick up steelbooks for TMWTGG & LTK. I tried to get the steelbooks at Amazon with the QUANTUMS deal and emailed them but they said...No.

The 30th is what it says for me too. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually shipped on Wednesday this week.

I assume most of those who've shipped have Prime?

"The World Is Not Enough" is the holdup for me. Amazon is showing March 30 as the delivery estimate even though it hasn't shipped, so I assume that means it'll ship in the next day or two.

I don't have Prime, but I did opt for standard shipping rather than free shipping.

All my steelbooks have shipped as well. Now I have to pray and hope that they don't come dented.

Got Prime, steelbooks arriving today. I'm hoping too that they're, for the most part, dent free...
