Isn't there supposed to be a Volume 4 to be released on the same day as well that has GoldenEye, Diamonds Are Forever, and Licence to Kill?

Maybe. There's a lot of rumors floating around suggesting a March release for Vol. 4 as well -- but the rumored configuration of late is License to Kill, Man With The Golden Gun and Quantum of Solace.

The Spy Who Loved Me was rumored early, but was dropped in favor of Moonraker.

It's odd that Fox/MGM would split press releases and retail info for the two separate volumes, but they did stagger news of Quantum, Moonraker and TWINE throughout the week. Hopefully some information will come this week.

There's also hints of a stand-alone BD release of Casino Royale ('67) or Never Say Never Again on March 24th.

I have heard a few different things about the fourth volume. The big question is that third title. I've read everything from Diamonds are Forever to QOS.

Of course it's quite possible MGM/Fox havn't figured it out yet either ....

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but "Never Say Never Again" is coming out on Blu-ray (and Collector's Edition DVD) on March 24th as well.

:jawdrop:

I should be used to it by now, Gizmo, but my amazement at your willingness to let packaging concerns dictate the titles you purchase will never cease.

Do you like movies or do you just like the boxes they come in?

Never Say Never Again coming out on Blu Ray????

It's not the best Bond movie by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a lot to like about it, and it features the return of Sean Connery to the role.

Why would I want to own 20 Bonds in Metal Cases and have one in a normal case mixed in the middle? I like things to match - if they don't, I don't want them. Feel free to discuss this with the "fans" of Simpsons Season 11, the fans of the "head" Simpson cases, or the Apes Boxset that is cheaper then the individual BDs, but in a stupid boxset held on with stickies or other retarded boxes/cases. I like things - at least in a series - to be uniformed. When their not, I skip them. I'm already irked that Lionsgate decided to use a slip cover for Saw III and not IV and V and irked I have to buy the "special editions" of Disney BDs just so I can have a damn slip cover to match the previous release (Narnia for example).

And again, I am a fan of DigiBooks as well - I like creative packaging. But when they change stuff around....well, I don't get excited about it.

Gee, I don't know, so that you can own the 21 Bonds you want?

I'm not arguing that a Steelbook wouldn't be nice for your collection, but giving up on the movie if it doesn't have one is another matter.

I'm the same way with the exception that I won't skip them. I usually just create a custom cover to fit the other covers in the set. Now with Steelbooks and slipcases I'm screwed. Casino Royale threw a wrench into the whole shabang

Isn't the whole point to watch the movie????

If you don't buy the movie you can't watch it. Sure, it would be nice if the packaging all matched, but that doesn't always happen. I prefer the packaging to match, too, but watching the movie itself is the whole point of buying it. I'm not going to skip a movie I like just because the packaging doesn't match.

Since its not a "real" Bond movie I'm not too concerned about skipping it altogether. Royale is already pissing me off being in a slip cover...but I hold out hope it will get a SB release somewhere overseas or Sony will revisit it. Until then, its at the end of the Bond series and when Quantum comes out, I'll make Royale the first film (as it should be in the timeline) so it won't look as weird.

I totally agree!

My left foot is a little bigger than my right, and I'm giving serious consideration to just lopping them both off because of it.

;)

Here is another vote for Gizmo.. I'm the same exact way. I have to have things look nice on my shelves. I haven't bought the Blu Steelbook versions yet, because only the first 6 got steelbook cases and we are finding out slowly on the others, but where is the Casino Royale steelbook version. I have to wait. Now, watching the films...well, I have the Ultimate Dvds

That's the Collector's mentality for you :)

I prefer things to match as well, but like DarthVong, it wouldn't prevent me from purchasing something I want. For instance, it certainly wouldn't make me pass on owning a copy of Casino Royale.

NSNA coming out is awesome! I'll pick it up regardless of it being non-steelbook. When the first three DVD box sets came out NSNA was pushed out of them completely! Sadly, it is the stepchild in the MGM Bond catalog so I don't expect them to offer anything special for it.

NSNA isn't part of the Bond canon, so don't place it with the other Bonds. Place it next to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or something, and it won't bother you nearly as much. :)

I will be buying NSNA, btw.

Here's hoping that some of the special features will have the "gun barrel" eqse opening they filmed. Although I heard it was just Connery walking against a white background... The Commentary will be an interesting listen as well.

count me in for NSNA as well in this batch.

I love the quote from Variety on the front cover:

"Sean Connery is back in action as James Bond!"

As if that were a rave review. They're just stating who the movie stars. The exclamation point was undoubtedly not in the original article. The line probably wasn't even taken from a review.
