I'm guessing..

A) A store that is super strict about having a receipt for returns for any items (open or not)

B) A store that doesn't have a strict policy and the poster just ran into the wrong employee

After seeing various reviews of the Blu-Ray's and reading what you guys have mentioned here, I might have to cave in and get the Connery Bond films in Blu soon. I really want those steelbooks :)

So is it better to get a 1 Disc or 2 Disc Hub? Gonna try and buy all of these later today.

Don't worry about it. I'd try and get ones that are not dented instead. My Dr.No has two dents on the cover but what can you do.

For some reason I thought some of the Bonds were 2 discs and some versions were putting the discs on top of each other one 1 hub instead of two seperate ones.

Anyway, I just did a demo at my BB. They knew nothing of it and after 10 minutes just let me listen to a Coldplay track and gave me $10 off Dr. No. Gonna hit up another BB tonight on the way home and if I can't get mutliples for $10 off I'll just buy the other 4 at full pop (minus the 10% coupon thats in the monthly booklets there). These look hot!

Gizmo, I hadn't heard of the Best Buy demo and $10 coupons until this thread. There are three different Best Buys in my city. Do you think I could attend a demo at each one and get three coupons? I want to pick up the remaining three Bond steelcases I don't have yet that won't play either. I'm assuming the steelcases are very limited, so I want to get them now while I can and let Sharp and Fox work out the issues in the next few weeks.

Its any BB with a Magnolia in it. We have a thread right here in the HD forum that goes into the specifics. Mine had all 6 ones.

And if you don't want to attend 6 stores to save $10 each, they hae coupons in store for 10% off any Blu-ray (so $2.50).

Just picked up all 6 SteelBooks at Best Buy (Clark St. store in Chicago).

They price-matched a print out of the Fry's ad I found online (there's a Fry's 20 miles from here).

Definitely a smoking hot deal, I couldn't be happier about picking these all up so cheaply. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

(These are my first SteelBooks, btw, and they are AWESOME! I'm going to be on the lookout for all future Blu releases in SteelBook form, when available... looks like FYE is going to have three separate steelbooks versions of Dark Knight on Blu... THAT'S something I'm interested in!!)

Yep, just watched For Your Eyes Only on it, no problems at all. :)

Has anyone gotten a Bond BD from Blockbuster online? I choose the BD, but when it gets added to my queue, the format says DVD.

Moopher 10-24-08 12:30 AM

I picked up the other three I needed tonight. FYI for those of you in MN; Minnetonka, Mall of America, Maple Grove and Rogers all have quite a few steelbooks left. They all also have Magnolia with the exception of rogers. Myself and three friends went to a demo at each, so I had twelve coupons, now I have nine left. Thanks for the tip!

OK, does anyone know if there is a Power DVD update that will play these things?

If not, is there another DVD/Blu Ray player program I can download that will play them?

Any success? Cos that damn code simply ruins the great slipcover for Casino Royale. :(

I just safely removed both the ink and the glue residue from two James Bond Blu-ray titles that I picked up at Target yesterday by using denatured alcohol applied with a Kleenex!

My wife suggested that I use it on my slip covers and the residue came off quickly (I used cotton balls). They look good as new! ;)

Watched Dr. No last night which of the other 6 should I watch next? Haven't seen any of the olders ones before and havent seen the newer ones since they first came out.

Well, From Russia With Love is next in "order" so you can always watch that. They're all great IMO in this set so fire away.

Admiral7 10-24-08 01:58 PM

From Russia With Love is not only next in order, but it is also a direct sequel to Dr. No, dealing with threads that were established in Dr. No, so that would definitely be the logical choice.

I finished watching Thunderball and compared it to the previous Ultimate Edition 2-Disc DVD. Why on the Blu-ray did they windowbox past the opening credits into the first scene until Largo gets to the building? On the dvd, the windowboxing ends as the opening credits end right after "Directed By Terence Young" but on the blu-ray, the windowboxing continues.

I get the black screen on PowerDVD also. I checked their website and they updated their ultimate version on Thursday. I'm hoping they'll have an update for their bundled version soon.

Gizmo 10-25-08 06:23 PM

Sweet! I now have all 6 Steelbook Bonds...yummy!

munch 10-25-08 09:23 PM

My From Russia With Love Steelbook is a 2 disc steelbook. Did this happen to anyone else?

I shook my case at BB so I wouldn't get stuck with it.

Its an error apparently.

SIUmark 10-25-08 10:35 PM

I was lucky that all 6 of my steelbooks were 1 Disc kind.

Abe. 10-25-08 11:18 PM

If you want, you could always just slip in the DVD in the second hub?
