Hey all.
Just got my screener copy of Cloverfield...

So far this looks amazing! The case has a new "Blu-ray sticker" as shown on the top image. This release also includes the very neat "New Secrets Revealed" security sticker that was present on the DVD.
I have yet to watch the film so I went ahead and skimmed through it. Looks pretty good. The TrueHD track is awesome! Easily one of the best the format has to offer from the few minutes I demoed.

Agreed. Its easily Paramounts best (if not any studio) Audio track Ive ever heard. PQ is actually pretty damn good too considering everyone was saying it was filmed poorly.

Flaw though: Special Investigation Mode, from the linked review, sounds different to me than the UK SD-DVD "during-the-movie" feature, so if it is, that would in my book be a big oversight from Paramount.

You get to watch a ton of quality stuff when you review movies, but man when you get stinkers, they absolutely kill. Knowing you "HAVE TO" watch them.

Speaking of being a reviewer, what does it take for companies to send you a screener? I think my blogsite gets enough hits per day but I don't know if the companies are really anal with the review formats.

Blu-ray Exclusive Feature
Special Investigations Mode - A very nifty feature Paramount cooked up for this Blu-ray release. What this does is shrink the film to around 35% of its original size and pushes it to the upper right hand side of the screen. On the left portion of the screen is a map of Manhattan the shows us colored dots depending where the Humans, Military and Monster is. On the bottom portion of the screen is various factoids. While I did enjoy this feature, its not very interactive and simply gives us another way to watch the film. I will say it made watching the film a lot easier since you can focus your eyes at other things when the movie becomes too shaky.

So does anyone know if all the extras they had planned and produced for the HD DVD made the Blu-ray? Information several months ago indicated that Paramount had made a lot of extras for the HD DVD release which may not all show up on the BD. Just wondering if there is significant double dip potential here?

Phantom,
Not all made it. Only the GPS Tracker. IIRC, there were 1 or 2 other features planned but scrapped. I don't think that was ever 'official' though.
