It's also one of the better Kino discs - some combing, but a restored print was used, and there's an excellent commentary.

Re: KINO goes Blu

Scarlet Street on blu is great news indeed. I currently have the Kino DVD and the superior Odeon relase from the UK. If Kino uses the same print, this BD should exceed the previous DVD releases and be well worth the upgrade. One of Fritz Lang's best.

Re: KINO goes Blu

Anyone else picking up the Jean Rollin blu-rays c/o Kino by way of Redemption? I've got them all pre-ordered, pretty excited for them. Can't wait for Scarlet Street.

DVD Beaver on A Star is Born - seriously, would it kill Kino to include extras with their releases?

I'm overjoyed to see that Night Tide, a personal favorite, is getting a Blu-ray release on 6/26, according to DVDAf. Could Daughter of Horror possibly be next?

From Blu-ray.com --
Independent distributors Kino Lorber have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray a collection of early films directed by Stanley Kubrick. The collection will include Day of the Fight (1951), The Flying Padre (1951), Fear and Desire (1953), and The Seafarers (1953).

Kino Lorber have indicated that the release is expected to street in Fall 2012.
I'm looking forward to watching a remastered Fear and Desire and Day of the Fight, but the other two shorts are really for completists only.

Re: KINO goes Blu

The Kubrick news is very interesting. I'd be very interested in all of those. I didn't think we'd ever see Fear and Desire get a real release. I suspected there was at least a possibility of a release when it aired on TCM not long ago. I recorded it but still haven't watched it.

Re: KINO goes Blu

Independent film distributor Kino Lorber has just released its July 2012 Blu-ray slate. Titles come from three separate Kino divisions - Kino Classics, Kino Lorber, and Kino's Redemption Films label.

Kino Classics:

July 10th - Buster Keaton's The Saphead: Ultimate Edition
July 24th - They Made Me a Fugitive

Kino Lorber:

July 17th - The Fairy
July 24th - The Last of England

Redemption Films:

July 17th - The Blood Beast Terror and the 1972 version of Burke & Hare
They Made me a Fugitive is a superb British noir, glad to see it getting an upgrade.

Re: KINO goes Blu

From here:
Three of horror and exploitation cinema's greatest exponents are about to have some of their best works remastered into HD and released on Blu-Ray. Virgin Among the Living Dead, Les Avaleuses aka Female Vampire aka The Bare Breasted Countess (fully uncut), Exorcism, Black Sunday aka The Mask of Satan, Lisa and the Devil, Frightmare and Die Screaming Marianne are just some of the films by these fabulous directors currently being remastered and prepared for release and there are many, many more to follow.... More details soon.
Wow, Redemption/Kino are looking like a label to watch for genre stuff. I had zero interest in any of the Rollin films, but I'd be all over some Bava.

^ Very cool. I have some interest in the Rollin films, but I'm really excited about more Bava on Blu-ray!

So, I guess folks like me who already own Kino's release of Fallen Angels are a little bit out of luck when it comes to Happy Together.

Ah. Well, that'd be my priorities exposed.
