Constantine - October 14

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the Keanu Reeves film 'Constantine' to Blu-ray on October 14th. This film represents another Warner Blu-ray "make-up" title, as it was originally released in high definition on the now defunct HD DVD format in June of 2006. Video will be presented in 1080p VC-1 and be accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Extras mirror the HD DVD release.

I can't wait to see the "Alternate Ending" -- I heard it has JFK coming back as a vengeful cyborg, opening up potential for a sequel!

I thought I saw something online about a new version of The Polar Express sometime in the Fall, any truth to this?

It'd certainly be easy to believe. I mean, why waste time releasing titles which haven't already been released on the format when they can double/triple/quadruple-dip on the relative few that have?

I agree it seems overkill nowadays and even with the bluray releases, word is that the eventual Mummy Trilogy pack will feature even more exclusive goodies than the discs that were released today.... time will tell...Now if Warner's would stop the double dipping and release say some of the previous HD-DVD only releases, I'd get off their fucking case. Or even say the expanded edition of 'The New World' - the standard discs has been announced where the hell is the bluray edition?

Even if a "new edition" of The Polar Express comes out, I'm 99% sure it will be the same disc they released last year, maybe with some non-disc stuff.

No doubt -- that one would be a total no-brainer for an HD release! And what about the Hitchcock films Universal is re-re-re-releasing (not a stutter) to DVD? Wasn't there some kind of word late last year that they were being prepped for an HD release?

It could be like the Pirates trilogy, which is just the 3 movies in a box. Regardless, just give me the next installment in a foil slipcase like the first two Mummy movies so they match on the shelf, and I'll be content.

Sony's choice of titles blows my mind... really, people were dying for Maid in Manhattan on blu-ray?

Makes sense as women comedy/romance films sell well in September during Valetines Day...wait.

Just as much as teen horror films sell well in July during Halloween....

Sony is just releasing titles just to pad out their library. Not a bad thing, but I'm sure there is better choices available to them.

So you think all horror movies should be released in one general time period a year? All romantic comedies and the like should come out one general time a year? I don't buy into that at all. I can see making a promotional push around those times, sure, but saying that studios should tether specific genres to specific holidays is just...bizarre.

Releasing horror films at the end of July is a bit odd considering most horror films tend to come out (at the earliest) at the end of August. Putting something like Can't Hardly Wait in July and moving I Know... and Urban Legend to the end of September would make more sense. Other studios clearly get this (Universal with Land, Dawn - Weinstein with Halloween, Diary - Fox with The Omen) so its just weird to get these themed releases each month. The week of August 12th is crappy action flicks (xXx, Maximum Risk, Half Past Dead and 7 Seconds)

It may be bizarre, but if they want people to pay the high price its better to push them out during the correct holiday when people are in the mood. I'm in no mood to pay $19.99 for I Know... in July, but if this was October I would probably bite. Fox certainly did this with their war themed titles waiting until Fathers day.
