I wish SYNAPSE would release THRILLER on BD
Or Better yet.... tell Bo Arne to sell the Rights to Breaking Point.... hes getting old man... what is he gonna let it rot in his basement?

As a previous owner of:
Seriously, I can't imagine what we'll see with Phenomena and Suspiria especially since May has hinted at Phenomena's release including multiple versions of the film and Suspiria getting the 4K treatment.
- Anchor Bay's 1999 DVD release of Tenebrae.
- Anchor Bay's 2008 DVD re-issue of Tenebrae (as apart of the Dario Argento collection).
- Arrow's 2011 Blu-ray release of Tenebrae.
- Synapse's 2016 Blu-ray release of Tenebrae.

Well, unless it has the mono track or something I'm still hanging onto my VHS of Gone in Sixty Seconds because it's the only version of the original cut that'll ever exist.
I'm still not sure which copy of Re-Animator to get.

It will happen, as soon as we work through it. The negative is in poor shape, with tons of dirt, splices, fingerprints, etc. SUSPIRIA has been THE most stressful, difficult, and frustrating transfer of my 25 year career.

Anchor Bay also began work on the DVD nearly sixteen years ago. It's a big difference going from a master that (I believe) was in standard definition to that of 4K... and from the sounds of it, the negatives were treated like shit in that 16 year time frame too.

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray
Synapse on a hell of a roll:
We just finished the first disc of PHENOMENA and the CD and are in the middle of the second, the POPCORN Blu-ray and DVD will be announcing shortly and we’re working on THE VIOLENT SHIT COLLECTION. ... I’d love to get those three out by the end of the year.” ... “We’re doing some titles in the [producer] Herman Cohen collection, including CROCODILE, WATCH ME WHEN I KILL and HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM. We’re also getting ready to remaster THE DEADLY SPAWN in true 4K, which will be commencing shortly, and we’re talking to Joe Dante about a TRAILERS FROM HELL Blu-ray.

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray
I'm assuming Synapse is going to use branching on the first disc of Phenomena to contain the original and integral cuts and place the Creepers edit on the second disc. Since they're including two Blu-ray discs, I wonder if they'll still attach the DVD like they did for the Demons films and Tenebrae or drop it.
I don't care how much Phenomena or Popcorn cost, I'm pre-ordering both the moment they're available to do so.

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray
Thanks for the post Adam. I went ahead and sprung for the Hi-Def Ninja Darker Inker edition. Looks like those are selling way quicker than their Tenebrae versions (also it appears there are a lot less of this release than Tenebrae).
If you want one, get it quick because they are selling fast: http://shop.hidefninja.com/collectio...el-exclusive-2
More info on their forum: http://www.hidefninja.com/community/...ook-usa.81178/

I see a shipping label from Romulus, MI in my.usps.com, so it looks like Phenomena is about to start shipping!

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray
Preorders for the Popcorn steelbook are open now. Should arrive around March 7th.
The package looks fantastic. I've picked up all of Synapse's steelbooks on day one, but I do think I'll wait for a traditional release for this one. I love Popcorn and have seen it many, many times, but I just don't think it's a $45 purchase for me.

Blue Underground is reissuing The Stendhal Syndrome with a shiny, new master.

Great news, STENDHAL is Argento's last great hurrah... underrated and worthy of giving the grand 1080p treatment. It harks back to his great films of the '70s and '80s. It truly is deserving of a reevaluation in light of his crappy recent films.

One of the most recent Suspiria related questions was answered this week:
We'll have an interesting update in June for those awaiting SUSPIRIA. VERY interesting things currently happening with it (awaiting on certain people's schedules, of course)

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray
Blue Underground posted a FB response (and concern) over their new Aspect Ratio on their upcoming release of Stendhal Syndrome:
A few people have expressed concern over the aspect ratio of our upcoming release of THE STENDHAL SYNDROME, so the Italian lab that did the new scan have provided us with some frame grabs for comparison. It’s important to note that the new 2K scan was done from the Original Camera Negative (OCN), while previous transfers were done from an Interpositive (IP). When examining the OCN, the lab found that several shots were hard-matted to 1.85:1. They performed tests on several scenes, cropping the image to both 1.85:1 and 1.66:1. The 1.85:1 framing added significant picture information on both the left and right sides, while losing only a sliver of picture on the top and/or bottom (and the shots hard-matted to 1.85:1 lost nothing). Top image: Original Transfer (IP); Bottom image: New 2K Scan (OCN) [2K scan frame does not represent the quality of the final master, which has been fully graded and restored for our release]
