I know that Phenomena is fully compatible with Region A players (at least I hope so, since it's currently being shipped to my house), but I didn't think Tenebrae was. I thought it was a situation similar to The Funhouse, where the movie will play fine, but the extras won't work unless they can play 25p/50i content (which is the reason I haven't imported that one yet).

The blu-ray.com review is kinda nuts. Synapse as "an up-and-coming cult studio"? They've been around for, like, fifteen years! Their reputation is as sterling as it gets. All of the other pre-release comments have been glowing, so I'm surprised the ratings are as low as they are.
DVD Talk didn't get a review copy, but I'm buying this one regardless.

Let's hope Amazon will stick with the 50% off pre-orders on BU titles next year, as it's made buying every new release an easy decision. I'm very much looking forward to the Larry Cohen films and hopefully some new, non-upgrade titles, particularly American horror. As far as re-releases go, I'd be down for Contamination, The Loveless, Deathdream, Shockwaves and some more Spaghetti Westerns.

Nice review, Adam! As soon as my bank account isn't in shambles from 2 conventions in 3 weeks I'll be picking it up.
Also... does anyone that pre-ordered The Exterminator from Family Video know what the hell is going on with it being backordered?

They told me that Synapse only sent out 1/10th of the copies that they usually do, so it'll be another 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it won't be the same scenario with Maniac Cop.

Ah, thanks. I think Synapse was hoarding all of the copies for their convention appearances where they charged 30 damn dollars

I just don't understand folks who happily shell out retail for the privilege of owning a film a whopping two weeks before the rest of the world.
