Nothing listed yet, but they're coming.

Awesome. They have a lot of the titles Anchor Bay used to have which I have the older dvds of.

cultshock 03-01-08 11:01 AM

Cool, I can't wait to see what's coming from them. :)

Gizmo 03-01-08 12:28 PM

Awesome. They have some pretty good horror films.

My personal fav BU property is The Final Countdown. Great little overlooked sci-fi B-movie with some A-list actors like Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen. Reminds me of feature-length episode of the Twilight Zone, which happens to be one of my all-time favorite shows.

I would hope this is on their short list of titles to produce.

Dane Marvin 03-01-08 12:55 PM

Here would be my best guess at their short list of Blu-ray titles:

--The Final Countdown (SD DVD description reads: "All-new THX-Certified High-Definition Transfer from the original camera negative with remixed 6.1 DTS-ES and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX Soundtracks for the ultimate in explosive home theater excitement.")
--The Bird With the Crystal Plumage
--Dead & Buried
--Suspiria
--99 Women
--Circle of Iron (the description of the 2-disc SE reads "CIRCLE OF IRON also known as THE SILENT FLUTE has now been remastered in stunning High Definition and remixed in bone-crunching 6.1 DTS-ES and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX. This new 2-Disc "Kick Ass" Edition also includes an hour and a half of newly produced Extras!")

I would love to see a Blu-Ray re-release of "Bird With The Crystal Plumage"

Also any Jess Franco film they see to release on Blu is fine with me :)

islandclaws 03-01-08 03:05 PM

Woo-hoo! Another reason for BU to re-issue titles and not bother with putting out films that still haven't seen the light of day.

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic...

Supermallet 03-01-08 03:09 PM

Blue Underground has the rights to Suspiria now?

Adam Tyner 03-01-08 03:14 PM

Apparently.

The Weinstein Company picked up the rights to a theatrical re-release, but I guess the home video rights stayed with BU.

Supermallet 03-01-08 03:22 PM

So all they've done is re-release the Anchor Bay SE, it looks like.

Adam Tyner 03-01-08 03:27 PM

In keeping with something like 2/3rds of their output these days, yeah.

...but I'll take what high-def horror I can get.

Supermallet 03-01-08 03:32 PM

Agreed. If they can port everything over from the 2-disc AB edition, and give us a new PCM mix, I'd be a very happy camper indeed.

rexinnih 03-01-08 04:42 PM

I'd be in for the Final Countdown.

Matthew Chmiel 03-01-08 06:11 PM

Blue Underground will most likely not release Suspiria on Blu, especially since they're rights are running out soon and the Weinsteins will take control of it before year's end. I don't know how many times I have to explain it, but a Google search for Suspiria and Weinstein will pull up their press release.

I can see the remainder of their Argento titles: Bird With the Crystal Plumage, Cat O' Nine Tails, Deep Red, Inferno, Opera, Stendhal Syndrome, and Two Evil Eyes.

I can also see all of the Lucio Fulci titles they've acquired, however Zombie (Zombi 2) might be tricky considering the rights lie in two separate places.

I can also see the Django films and The Final Countdown.

mario_c 03-01-08 08:37 PM

And they finally fixed the website too. Trailers and all! Looking forward to more giallo, spaghetti/taco westerns, and European shockers.

So true. I bought both movies as new releases within weeks of each other.

And despite having almost no special features unlike the Media Blasters counterpart, the Blue Underground version has the better transfer as it's flagged for progressive. :(

I could actually see a BR release that's movie-only....

best news for blu-ray yet

ThePhantomGoat 03-02-08 07:48 AM

I'm hoping for any of their Argento titles. Mainly Suspiria and Deep Red (as long as they fix the credits sequence).

L Chabert Lover 03-02-08 09:36 AM

I'd love to see The New York Ripper on Blu-ray.

Giles 03-03-08 08:34 AM

even though the new version of 'The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue' looks fantastic, in high def it'd look even more amazing!

Count_Zero 03-05-08 09:31 AM

Should be very interesting to see what they decide to put out on Blu-ray first. My guess is that they'll go with at least one of the Argento biggies they have like Deep Red or Tenebre.

I'm also hoping we eventually get some of their giallo stuff in Hi-Def as well.

yeah, vaginal stabbings in high def - woohoo. The Weinstein's acquistion of 'Suspiria' will take light years to release on bluray :mad2:
