Plenty of interest in it, but being charged up front right now is a problem. I'm tight on cash and want to hold off for a week or 2.

It's not a particularly 'good' film by any stretch - the plot is full of holes and the acting underwhelms - but there's plenty of vintage NYC sleaze and a few gruesome death sequences. Plus, for me at any rate,
Spoiler:
the weary, mournful (if slightly cornpone) song over the closing credits made the downbeat, cynical ending surprisingly effective.

Can someone tell me why Salon Kitty has a higher RRP than other Blue Underground titles?

You have to pay more for the naughty bits.

Re: Blue Underground and Synapse Films to release on Blu-ray

Ten years ago today a tragedy happened to America, which sent aftershocks throughout the world and created wounds that have yet to heal.

Anchor Bay released a DVD of Suspiria which, despite its great transfer and supplements for the time, featured a compromised audio mix.

I call upon you, Blue Underground, to tear down this wall, release a blu ray of Suspiria with a better transfer and a proper uncompressed audio mix. For America.

tasteless. plus blue underground doesn't own the rights.

While I'm not personally offended by it, I can see where others would have a problem with your post. Probably not the best idea, man.

And for the record, Blue Underground doesn't have the rights to Suspiria. The Weinstein Company does. Trust me, I would love a flawless Blu-Ray release of this film (I know it's available, but it's Region B, and far from flawless), but it seems unlikely anytime soon.

Though I expect this title to be available for $19.95 sooner rather than later, I threw it into a DVD Empire order with a 15% off coupon ( 1585810 ) which brings it down to $22.10. If like me you have to pay sales tax with Amazon, this represents a couple more bucks saved. And as much as I like/love Amazons service, of all the other DVD e-tailers, DVD Empire is right up there at the top too, from my limited experience (including processing returns/exchanges).

Should also note that 15% discount brings a few other titles down slightly under Amazons pricing including Halloween II.

I'm more offended by the fact that he couldn't bother to research who had the rights to Suspiria before making his post.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that, I just assumed because BU re-released the DVD, and have been releasing the other Argentos that they had the rights. Also, I'm a she, not a he.

The only other Argento left that they have the rights to without a Blu-ray release is Opera. Back in May they told me:

We would like to release OPERA in the future, but the licensors have not authorized it yet.
In the UK, Shameless will be releasing Four Flies on Grey Velvet in December. Here's the thread.

Also, I'm a she, not a he.
Ah, well then apologies on my end. I just always assume everyone on the internet is a dude.

I pulled the trigger on Zombie for 22.99. I was going to wait for 19.99, but I was ok with this price.

Who has Tenebre and Phenomena then? Lionsgate?

Anchor Bay. I'd go with the Arrow releases for those two, spotty as they are, as AB is unlikely to put them out stateside, having apparently abandoned catalog titles altogether. Despite some issues with the transfers, both Arrow discs are region-free and have a nice selection of extras. More discussion in the Arrow thread here. A tip: An easy and quick way to find out who owns the rights to a particular title is to enter it into DVD Aficionado.

I asked Synapse if they were still planning a 42nd Street Forever Blu-ray:

We are, but we're waiting for the commentary to be edited.

My apologies for the "man" at the end of my post then.

I know that Phenomena is fully compatible with Region A players (at least I hope so, since it's currently being shipped to my house), but I didn't think Tenebrae was. I thought it was a situation similar to The Funhouse, where the movie will play fine, but the extras won't work unless they can play 25p/50i content (which is the reason I haven't imported that one yet).

I remember reading somewhere they were using trailers from the previous editions (which I am OK with).
