The Shawshank Redemption (Blu-ray) --> November 4th!
It's eight months away, but who cares? Shawshank is making its far anticipated arrival on Blu this November, according to High-Def Digest.
Looks like I've already got a big fourth-quarter purchase pegged.
In a very early announcement, Warner has set a November Blu-ray debut for 'The Shawshank Redemption.'
One of the most eagerly awaited Blu-ray titles in Warner's catalog, 'The Shawshank Redemption' was first touted for next-gen release last year in a variety of press materials and advertisements, though no hard street date was ever set.
The wait is now over, with Warner scheduling the Frank Darabont-directed classic for a November 4 Blu-ray debut.
With the release date so far off, there were no tech specs or supplement details available at press time, but we expect more to be revealed over the coming months.
Warner has set a suggested $28.98 list price for the Blu-ray.

That either mean a bare bones release, a misprint, or that MSRPs are coming down.

Can't wait. Already sold my SE DVD for a fair amount of change in anticipation.

Funny as this title was never advertised on Blu-ray that I can recall. It was always advertised on HD DVD with many of Warner's early releases with brochures as "coming soon". Nice to finally see it though.

This MSRP is on par with their HD-DVD releases of Casablanca and Robin Hood and their dual-format releases of The Searchers, to name a few. All of these carried over the 2-disc SE features and all are wonderful. I expect the extra time and planning has gone not into special features but into pefecting the technical aspects of the disc. If that's the case, I can live with that!

I'd buy Sweeney Todd, Charlie Wilson's War, Atonement, and There Will Be Blood on Blu-ray.

I will buy this. Not as big a fan as most seem to be, but I like the film.

Well, it's about the same time I'll be buying a Blu-ray player, so I can wait.
