Same ugly cover art. Yuck.
Too bad Warner didn't feel it was time to relegate the bonuses to another disc and throw on the hour of additional bonuses R2 got recently. |

What in the world could possibly be ugly about that wonderful Drew Struzan artwork?

Big thumbs down for the stupid "digi-book" packaging....this will be the FIFTH title I pass on thanks to the use of this mess!
Do you hear me Warner? I would have bought this, "Natural Born Killers", "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", "Poltergeist", and "JFK" if you had offered them in a regular case....at least give consumers the packaging option, like "The Simpsons" 7-10 seasons did (between limited edition plastic "head" and regular box)....I will just wait until a re-release with a standard case instead... Sorry, it may not seem like a big deal to some people, but the fact that those "digi-books" only have a crappy cardboard sleeve area to store the disc in and not a plastic hub irritates me to no end...even with the discs special scratch resistant coating, I don't trust those hard paper type containers... |
I've never seen this movie before.
What is it about? |

Have you even looked at these? Each have a plastic tray in the back for the disc -- like any other digipack -- not a cardboard slot for the disc to rest in.
Still, I dislike the whole book design, since they are taller than the standard size plastic cases, and I prefer the durability of plastic over paper...I felt the same way towards standard DVD and would just prefer for companies to stick with the clean, basic, standard blue cases.... I already have the titles I listed on DVD anyway, and since prices tend to come down over time, I am in no hurry to upgrade...I'll sit tight until they are released later on in a standard case which my wallet will thank me for later... |

Even if they did come in a sleeve, trust in the Blu's scratch resistant coating. In a YouTube video, it held up to steel wool, and in my own personal experience, somehow a loose disc ended up sandwiched between some DVDs, and it ended up getting moved around in a way that would have invariably killed a standard DVD but my copy of Dark City was fine.
I am not sure that Poltergeist's packaging has been officialized yet. |
I would prefer if LA Confidential was in one of those digi-book cases. But I'm good either way.

Pictures have already been posted showing it in Digibook form.
As for Shawshank, the delay doesn't bother me because I'm just glad it's coming out at all. There were rumors recently that it wouldn't make it out this year, so finding out that it's only a month later is a relief in comparison. |
This will be mine on release date. I still have the limited edition box set (with book and soundtrack) from a couple years back...I wonder how much space will be left in the box once I replace the DVD with the Blu-Ray case.

Re: The Shawshank Redemption (Blu-ray) --> November 4th!
Finally got this on BD using that Deepdiscount.com coupon Hidefdigest.com offered. Watching it now. Yet another Warner release where the skin tones have a red hue. This, "L.A. Confidential" and "The Departed" are other WB titles that come to mind with the same issue. I hope one day they correct this problem. It's very distracting. As I mentioned in an "L.A. Confidential" thread, I've seen that film countless times on cable in HD and it never looked like that.
