Since I've never picked this up on DVD, I'll probably spring for it.

It's sort of a cross between Minority Report and the Island. IMHO

Wow, I would never in a million years call Gattaca a cross between Minority Report and The Island.

I sold my Superbit on half.com the other day for $12. Not bad.

I traded my Super-Bit quite some time ago...

I think it's time to add this fine film back to my library!

Well it's not. If anything, the other two are both rip-offs. (of sorts) But for someone who hasn't seen it, I think it's an accurate statement.

It has the invasive crime-fighting from Minority Report and the unethical use of DNA and genetics from the Island.

Not to mention The Island is a total rip-off of the B-movie The Clonus Horror, which incidentally had one of the funniest MST3K episodes ever.

But it's not an action film, which both Minority Report and The Island are, first and foremost. To me, calling it a cross of those two films would give someone a very, very wrong impression of Gattaca.

Great transfer!

I just watched my Blu-ray of GATTACA and was amazed at the transfer.

Like many of you, I also had the Superbit version and this one just blows that one away.

I was reading an earlier draft of the script which was pretty close to the movie but there was 2 extra interesting scenes. One is a scene during a flashback, where 17 year old Jerome is getting a blowjob in a car and the woman wipes his sperm from her mouth and pockets it in test tube. It was pretty graphic and I guess that's why it was never filmed. There was also another scene when the parents are picking out Anton's traits, it's hinted that they want to make sure he won't be gay and that was "already taken care of" There's some interesting stuff in the script. Just wanted to share that.
