The Panasonic BD-30 can do something the PS3 cannot currently, which is bitstream DTS HD Master Audio. If you have a receiver that can decode all the lossless audio formats, the BD-30 is a perfect match.

I've heard different opions on them some say the HDMI make it look better others have said it doesnt make a difference really.
Looks like the 6 footer went back up to $5.24.
Don't use composite. You could use the PS2 component cables, but it will be cheaper to get an HDMI off the net.

Depends if you want to upconvert regular DVD's to 720/1080 in the PS3 as well. If you do then you'll need to go HDMI, since copy protection of DVD limits upconversion through HDMI (this applies to regular upconverting DVD players as well). If you just want to watch Blu-Ray discs and play PS3 games in HD then you can go component cables. Your DVD's will just come out at the regualr 480p output.

For sound however, the only way to get 7.1 surround is through HDMI. Optical is limited to 5.1.

Either way, I got mine!
Just out of curiosity, why is it that every single piece of even remotely positive news for Blu-ray needs to be pounced upon and have attempts made to discredit it?

IMO the popularity of LOST S3 BD at Amazon shows that BD sales could and would stack up very well with SD when the prices come down a bit.
Got mine as well. No brainer at that price. Unopened SD of S3 goes back to Coscto.

Questions about the Blu-ray Lightning McQueen.
I'm a bit confused about this car. I ordered mine and received not one, but two of them this week. I assumed Disney was just trying to get rid of the things, but now I found out it is actually very sought after. First of all the car is not really blue it is purple (I can only assume Mr McQueen is format neutral) and second of all why the hell is this thing going for $30 on ebay?
If people really want the car that bad why don't they just buy the stupid movie and get it free? I find it hard to believe people will go through all the hassle of paying over $30 with the shipping just to not have to own the Blu-ray as well. Strange world we live in.

Damn, I shouldn't have thrown away that offer for the little Cars car. I thought the S/H being more than the car was worth killed the deal, but I didn't know they went for that kind of money on eBay.

Is it good that the set is #1 on Amazon? Yes. Is it #1 because it is such a steep price cut, a clearance as I have seen such price cuts called (though in this case, and most likely in the other, it is not clearance)? Yes.
I don't see anyone raining on a parade, or jumping on anything. Someone replied to someone else's comment. Don't want comments? Start a blog and shut off commenting.
You can be supportive AND critical of something at the same time. People need to understand that.
