Correct. From what I'm reading at other boards it does not scan properly with the PS3. You have to make your appeal to the cashier/manager.

Sweet. I was just coming in here to check if anyone had success. I finally got my coupon and I have a load of BB gift cards just sitting at home waiting to be used on a PS3.

Are these only sent to Reward Zone members? I seem to remember getting them several times in the past but didn't see anything today.

Man, this is so tempting...

BTW, anyone know why the 80GB model isn't on BestBuy.com?

Yeah, I don't seem to get these coupons very often - even though I got an RZ reward certificate in the mail today too.

No big loss because my store always battles tooth and nail against overriding anything that doesn't scan..........

It's being phased out.

A warning: I went to our east side BB yesterday and they didn't have any of either the Sony or Samsung $400 Blu-Ray players. I had them call the west side and they had four of the Samsungs and two of the Sonys. By the time I got there one-half hour later, they had sold two Samsuungs and one Sony. I bought a Samsung and while I was there someone else bought a Sony. Five of the six players were gone in an hour. If you see one grab it!

Samsung has finally issued their new 1.5 firmware for the BDP-1400 model. This corrects several issues. It appears this player is a safe buy. Not to mention that it does have internal Dolby TrueHD decoding and can send DTS MA audio via bistream. Not a bad deal for $320+ tax.

So I went to two Best Buys....the first one didn't have any PS3s in stock for some reason. The second one had about 5 or 6. I went up to the cashier, and after some arguing, he brought out the "manager" or whatever they're called. She refused to give me 20% off, saying some bullshit about how it's price fixed, like Apple and Bose stuff. I rolled my eyes, pleading my case. And finally I gave up (she won, dammit).

I just find it amusing...the PS3s I found were not in the video game section--they were with other Blu-Ray players around a display. So for it not to be considered a Blu-Ray player when it comes to the coupon....just strikes me as funny.

If anyone had better luck than me, congratulations.

My local Best Buy had signs out this morning saying the PS3 was excluded from the coupon.

Keep in mind the Sony, Pioneer and Sharp players are being given away free with TV purchases. So while it may seem that they "sold out" quickly, they could have just been given away quickly. Samsung might be a substitution if one player is gone.

People are also not too smart as both the Sony and Samsung were $299 only a few weeks ago, 20% still makes them $320.

I went to Best Buy and saw an XA2....they can't sell it because Toshiba gave it to them. So irked. I want one of those puppy. Plenty of A30 open boxes for $179 (while another BB has them for $129).

I bought a PS3 yesterday and they did not let me use the coupon.

I called 1888-best-buy today and they are going to send me a $80 gift card to honor the coupon.

I just have to send the coupon in to them.

Hope it works!

Big thanks to Flix1 for mailing me his coupon. I walked in this afternoon, grabbed a PS3 and went to wait in line. While I was there, one of the cashiers looked at me, then at the PS3, then at the coupon and picked up the phone. I'm thinking "Oh shit, they've had plenty of these and she's gonna call a manager over this." Well I go to a different line and a manager walks over and says to the cashier "Make sure you take 20% off the price of that, he has the coupon." She enters in the discount, he enters in his codes, and I leave a happy customer. So, it's still worth a shot for those of you that have the coupon.

Good job...it sucks that every store isn't the same way.

Boo. I called the 1-888-best-buy number today to see if they really would honor the coupon for a PS3 and the guy said "No, videogame systems are excluded from all coupon offers". So it seems you're just as likely to get a different story from different people on the phone as you are with cashiers at the store. I'm still going to go in to at least one store tomorrow and try it. Can't hurt.

In all actuality, this IS their policy. As has been noted, the markup on any video game system is very slim, and that is why they are excluded from coupons.

I really think anyone getting through with this coupon after Saturday will be a miracle worker, because I am sure that corporate will have "clarified" it for stores by then.

A friend of mine got shot down, for the PS3. So I had him call the Best buy 888 number, and they told him to buy it, fax the receipt with his case number, and they would send him a check for the difference.

He said the 2 managers did not even want to try, basically ignoring him and the coupon.

I think most people wouldn't have expected the coupon to work on the PS3 except for the fact that the exclusion list on the back of the coupon is so extensive even listing personal computers and Xbox HD drives, but it does not list the PS3.
