Haha, that is funny because I am the same way. Damn Moviestop and their $4-6 used DVDs. . .

I haven't seen any deals to take advantage of, yet. It does appears that a bunch of folks are dumping whole collections of HD-DVD but prices on e-bay are not dropping in any considerable way. I can only guess that there are plenty of people out there willing to bid up the item who simply don't know the situation, or are continuing to buy HD-DVD regardless.

Myself, I'm all for deals, when and if they appear. In the meantime, I am picking up discs I know I'll watch multiple times -- and renting new stuff.

If we see HD-dvd titles going to $10-$15, with B1G1 deals, I'll be buying a lot of titles.

What store would actually be carrying enough titles to sell them for $5? Most retailers excluding Best Buy and Circuit City, arent carrying more than a few titles. And the only titles they do carry are Transformers and crappy combo versions of new movies. Target has already ceased to carry HD DVD. The local K-mart store here doesnt look like it will carry them still either. There are over 20 titles on blu-ray for sale there, but only Transformers and Shrek the third for HD DVD. I wouldnt be surprised if Wal-mart stopped carrying HD DVD altogether as well.

This is kinda like shooting yourself in the foot - Sell players for $100 bucks and then stop carrying the movies 2-3 months later. Cheers!

I've been seeing big lots here and there since the WB announcement. Right now there are around 30+ HD-DVD imports up on Ebay. It is mostly from one person's collection though.

Also hoping the imports get cheaper down the line. I still want to pick up Perfume and La Haine on HD-DVD.

I'm assuming you've already seen Amazon's Sale then? A lot of $15 movies there. But as for me, they have to be $10 and below; that recent BOGO at Amazon set a standard for me, and I'm hoping to see another soon. Amazon probably has the most hd-dvd media of any store, so I'm guessing that's where the sales will be (as always).

To be fair, Bd discs are on sale there too, so I don't think this is Amazon clearing anything out... yet.

Give me a sale for HD-DVD titles for around $10 to $12 and I will bite. I am kicking myself for not buying a lot of WB titles during amazon last B1G1 sale.

I hope that HD-DVD is able to stick around for another 2 years and gives all the Blue Studios time to come back neutral.

I agree. If HD DVD is still kickin' and Blu-ray hasn't rocketed off, what's to stop the studios from releasing titles for a 1,000,000+ install base?

Remember, HD DVD uses the existing DVD production lines, so it wouldn't be too hard to flip that switch again!

This week's haul:

A35 (2)
Xbox 360 HD Drive
Hollywood Video Deal(10)
EzyDVD Deal (3)

The Hollywood Video deal got me buying.
Picked up 10 HD DVDs there and a couple others cheap used at Gamestop. Seems like $7.50 and under is my buy price for HD DVD.

Certainly yes.

8 from HV deal, A3 from amazon ($130 + 10 movies early Dec) and A35 from BB ($150 minus 10% off coupon + $55 Amex GCs +7 movies last week).

I haven't yet, but I may pick up a second player. As far as discs go, I had already purchased most of the ones I wanted. There are a few I was hedging on, so if I can get them really cheap I may bite.

I'm right now waiting on CC to go clearance.

I've got a treasure-trove of HD's hidden in the cheapo-DVD section that is never tended.

Not only "yes" but "HELL YES!"

HV sale cost me a small mint. Got Beowulf yesterday for $10.

My backup XA2 arrived yesterday (eBay: $91 shipped including 5 movies = win)

Owned prior to the WB announcement:

HD-A2 ($99 at Wal-Mart)
Blade Runner
5 free HD-DVDs via mail-in rebate (was still waiting for them)

Owned after WB announcement:

HD-A2, HD-D3, XBOX HD-DVD drive
16 HD-DVD's
10 free HD-DVD's via mail-in rebate (just mailed off rebate form)

So - yes, I'm definitely taking advantage of the situation

Well after HV 14 titles for $7.98 each so yea. But am not seeing many deals on ebay or craigslist yet. I would think Target would be the most likily to have good clearance between the bm because they also have clearance items around alot and on video games. Whenever I check CC clearance video games there seem like bad titles and overpriced for clearance.

Bottom line is the movie studios don't like competition. So the chances of seeing HD DVD doing a Lazarus event, is fantastical. It will not happen, unfortunately.

I already invested in the players so I'll grab some movies when with the right opportunities. No Hollywood Video around here but I'm grabbing some from Amazon and anxiously waiting for BB or CC to have a clearance sale.

Personally, I don't think the software deals have been very good at all. My price point is $10/disc. I've not see that happen, aside from the HV sale (and no HV's in the SF area carried HD-DVDs -- at least according to their location search engine).

I did buy an extra 360 add-on for $50 (which was valid for the 5 disc mail-in rebate).

I would like a HD-A35 and many more discs, but I'll wait and see how the prices fall. I'm not paying more than $10 disc shipped. Higher than that, I'd rather wait for the BD version.
