Should I be put off by the various reviews which state the color scheme is off? I'd love to pick up this film, but not if the color scheme is inferior to my SD copy... do we have another Draulca on our hands?

I was going to pick up Halloween but after the review I read about the hd quality being poor, I decided to pass. http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/halloween1978.htmlOriginally Posted by DthRdrX
I agree. Halloween is a must buy IMO.
Might as well just stick with the standard def on that one.

Halloween looks terrific. It got hit down in a lot of reviews because of the color issue. I have all of the SD copies of this film and they are not in the same league.Originally Posted by m0vi3fan

I would agree. I'd rather have have a lower-rez version of a movie with the correct color grading. Originally Posted by m0vi3fan

Thanks for the heads-up on Evil Dead II. I've never seen it...seen Evil Dead 1 and Army of Darkness (which I have on HD-DVD). An easy buy from Deep Discount - I haven't ordered from those guys in ages. So a good buy for me.

Save $10 on the following BD titles (reg. 29.99) now $19.99
Gone Baby Gone
Justice League: The New Frontier
Cars
Happy Feet
TMNT: The Movie
Pirates of The Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl
Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Pearl Harbor
Apocalypto
While browsing Amazon, I noticed that most of these titles are $19.95 there as of now, which is about $4 off their usual pricing. There could be others, but I don't know.Originally Posted by matome

Happy Feet is regular price, and Justice League isn't a "deal" because its MSRP is ~$30 so it's always $19.95.

Best Buy has some BD sets on sale, especially if you're looking for something to spend your HD-DVD gift cards on:
Ocean's Box Set - 49.99
Die Hard Collection - 79.99
Planet Earth - 59.99
Spider-Man Collection - 49.99
There might be a couple more, they're not advertised as being on sale, but they're all a little cheaper than Amazon.

Thanks! In for:
Big Fish
Black Hawk Down
Run Lola Run
With my 10% off came out to only be about $11.30 per title. Can't beat that anywhere for new BD's right now.

I'm guessing Amazon somehow hardcoded the discount to his account.Originally Posted by Drexl

They jacked up the price on the AB(Starz) horror titles by a buck.

Well, I never had the discount when all of you did. I didn't become an HD owner until the very end of last year. For some reason I got the discount at that time and it has stayed ever since.Originally Posted by Drexl

I'm about to chuck my HD-A1 out the window -- it's just a flaky, worthless player -- and I'd like to get a newer model to take its place. I haven't seen much in the way of sales on the more recent HD DVD players. Are there any, or is the A30 for $129 at Circuit City still my best/only bet?

IF you don't care about open boxed, some Best Buys still have A30's for $39.99 - $79.99. You can ALWAYS talk them down on these players too.Originally Posted by Adam Tyner

It wouldn't boot up, no matter what I tried. It just stayed frozen on Welcome.
