A double-dip for The Simpsons Movie is inevitable. And better editions are needed to make up for the mistake of some earlier releases (Superman, Stir of Echoes, The Devil's Rejects, etc.) not carrying over all the SE content from the SD DVD.

They already are. Troy and Full Metal Jacket come to mind. The Fifth Element IMHO is not a double dip as they offer a free upgrade to anyone who has the old version.
