Yes...i'm sure there will be some awesome deals coming up, and stuff like Zodiac is still due to come out.

I'll decide in the next 6 months or so. The big announcment today will reverb with Paramount/Dreamworks in the next few months which will makes it more clear on just how devoted they are to HD DVD. I'll continue on getting the good exclusives like Zodiac for now, but I don't see much coming out in the future that will have me continue to buy red on any regular basis.

Zodiac for sure.
However...I will wait on just about everything else (which isn't much looking a the current schedule) to see if Universal/Paramount jump ship.

Deep down there's a collecter inside me I can't keep supressed, so I'm glad I returned the few HD DVDs I bought a few weeks ago (thank you Amazon).
I think it'll become clear in the next week or two what Paramount and Universal plan to do. If they don't go blu, I'll rent their new releases on HD DVD.

I see that the poll is split 7 to 7, yet only a single poster indicating he/she will not buy HD-DVDs.
I made the decision to go Blu exclusively a couple of weeks ago (for no other reason that I didn't like the fact that I needed 2 BD and 2 HD-DVD players for my 2 entertainment areas and I liked my PS3's performance much better than the A3)
I don't plan to purchase any additional HD-DVDs, even if it means that I'll not 'own' a particular and much-loved title.
I'll still split the titles between my 2 entertainment dens, but it'll be based other reasons vs. format (still working through those 'reasons')

No. I can't see Universal and Paramount holding out so I'm moving my focus to Blu-ray.
There are very few Universal and Paramount titles I consider must haves so I will just wait. The exception will be if HD DVDs starting getting sold at huge discounts. If we see HD DVDs dumped very cheap I will buy them.

Sure. There will be a few titles (like "Sweeney Todd," which I'm particularly looking forward to) likely to still be HD-DVD exclusive for the next year or so anyway, and I'll buy them if I was planning on buying that title anyway.
I plan to keep my A2, possibly pick up another HD-DVD player on the cheap, and watch for fire-sale prices as people dump their collections and stores clear out their inventories.
But I believe the format will die, so I will move to BD going forward.
I still have a Laserdisc player and movies I watch on it. I even still have a few things on Beta. I'm completely comfortable with defunct formats.

I'm only going to buy the 'MUST HAVE NOW' kind of titles on HD DVD (Zodiac, Into the Wild etc.)... anything I was iffy on previous or hadn't gotten around to picking up (Heartbreak Kid, Stardust, The Kingdom Universal Catalogue titles etc.) I'll wait and see if Uni and Paramount switch sides or at least make their future plans known...if the landscape isn't changing drastically in the next few months, I'll buy them on HD...but I think we'll see those two go Blu rather soon... and any warner titles I had yet to pick up (Blade Runner, Pan's Labyrinth) I'm going Blu.

Probably not. Without looking at what's coming out from Universal and Paramount/DreamWorks, I'll probably do what I did before HD, buy the SD version used at Hollywood Video.

Not many.
I don't see myself buying any more HD DVD players, especially portable or computer drive. (i.e., because i don't want to be limited to my main home theater for watching the discs)

I will just purchase the former 'WB' titles in SD-DVD as the 'BR' drives purchased today will not play the disc's of tomorrow with bjava2.0...
The only disc that I hope that I will be able to get on 'HD-DVD' from 'WB' is "Twister" and "I Am Legend"
As both of these have already been announced for 'HD-DVD'

The only one I had on pre-order was Zodiac, & I cancelled that earlier tonight. The only other one on the current release schedule that I planned on getting was American Gangster, but now I'll also pass on it. Now, if either Universal or Paramount opens up the catalog & brings out say a Hitchcock or 2, it'd be hard for me to not consider a purchase.

Of course not, I mean my A2 will stop working the second Blu takes over if it does. What would I play my movies on then?
Joking aside, of course, it'd be idiotic not to. And FWIW, more movies I want are coming to HD than are to Blu in the near future.

I bet on HD but it's pretty obvious the fat lady is singing. There were 2x the Blue-ray releases as it is. Now it's just going to be a trickle. I'm glad I didn't buy titles, just rented them. I'm selling all I have.
