HD DVD won't be gone tomorrow. It is on life support but it is still breathing. Plus, even after it is dead, the titles and equipment will still spark conversation now and again as people pick up used equipment and media. These discs are not as obsolete as LD was made by DVD, the tech is not all that different.

I'm guessing that people will start referring to Blu-ray discs as DVDs sooner or later. Hell, I know people who keep referring to DVDs as CDs.
