I think the status quo is fine since Blu-Ray is really just HD.

Blu-ray will be big news for awhile, but we also discuss HD television and stuff in here as well.

No. HD DVD may still be around for months/years. We don't know right now.

Uh, no, it isn't HD DVD talk or HDM talk, it's HD Talk.

No, but DVDTalk is going to be outdated (not obsolete) as a domain in the future.

I watch a lot more HD content on television than I do on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.

Geoff was forward thinking enough to register hdtalk.com all the way back in 2004.

At least give it a couple of weeks ...

I wouldn't consider it unless Paramount & Universal jump aboard Blu-ray.

At some point it might be worth separating HD optical releases from HD TV programming, but we're not there yet.

No. That's an easy answer considering this forum covers multiple formats.

Talk about wishful thinking. Geez, years? We do know that the ship is sinking and you still are hoping for a life preserver.

Do you hate Sony and is that the reason you dislike BD?

I dislike Sony, but have nothing against BD or BD users.

HD Talk is a place to discuss High Definition in all of its forms. Whether it be OTA or set top HD, HD DVD, Blu-ray, HD on the computer, etc. We also talk about hardware, such as HDTV, HD camcorders, receivers, and so on. To name this place "Blu-ray Talk" would be doing a disservice to all the other HD options out there, even if it is the predominant one.

Most HDTV/receivers/HD cable threads are in DVD Hardware and I have yet to see an HD camcorders thread in this forum so no, we do not also talk about hardware, such as HDTV, HD camcorders, receivers, and so on in HD Talk.

That one is on the front page. We had a dedicated HDTV thread, and the Master HDMI Receiver thread is also still floating around. So yes, we do.

Edit: As I said, HDM discussion is the main part of this forum. But it's not the only part.

Even if it was appropriate to call it "BD Talk," it wouldn't happen for another several months or longer. There are still going to be HD DVD releases for a little while, and bargains and trading.

That would be an affront to the many D-Theater fans we have here.
