BTW, new additional info has been posted. Toshiba has now CANCELED the One on One Executive meetings in addition to the 2 hour CES Press Conference. You can read more here: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10234 |

This being said there are plenty of people on this forum who repeatedly turned it into a war zone every time even a tiny bit of Fox info resurfaced (Fox sucks is a marquee motto here which seems to be praised by the majority). At this point unless there is a verbal abuse of some sort the easiest way to address provocateurs is to simply ignore them. Pro-B |

By the way, everyone can thank ME for ending this format war....just this past week I traded out my Potter Blu-rays for their respective HD DVDs (as well as The Departed) with the cheap Amazon BOGO sale....so of course now that format would become the loser! Hope you all are happy! (Now I guess it's back to Amazon to grab Potter in Blu again while I have the chance...damn my OCD to have all one color for a studio...) |

Just drop it already, look forward, and stop fueling old debates. Pro-B |
I will because you italicized some words!

To the poster that said the PS3 market is tapped out, ummm no. My friend and I both are/were HD DVD supporters and we are both looking at PS3's now. It has received great support through all this, and many claim it as one of the best BR players. Why not get it as a BR AND a gaming machine. Many of those stacked boxes you saw at XMAS will start to shrink. He was going out today to get one, I will wait it out a few more months. (I have plenty of unwatched DVD's and HD DVD's still)

I dislike Sony because rather than releasing a reasonably priced game console, they released an expensive Blu-Ray player with a Playstation afterthought and expected the public to be grateful.
But now I am forced to buy a PS3, because I feel the need to maximize my dollars, and there are some decent games for the PS3 now. |

The HD-DVD forum at AVS is either blowed up or already dismantled. All I get is this message:
Sorry for this unexpected outage, we will be back on-line in a few minutes as we are adding another server. Nevermind. Guess it's an entire forum thing. Carry on. |

Disney would have seemed to be the easier target, especially since they were the only BD studio who ever voted on HD DVD issues, including voting yes for the TL 51 disc. And I believe they had tested on those discs as well. Fox never hinted, ever, that they would release in red.
But I think we can all say that this war wasn't won because of BD specs. WB ended it because they knew the path HD was headed with 2 formats. It wasn't because of 50gb of space, or bandwith, or anything else. They wanted 1 format and they were ready for that to be HD DVD, but Toshiba fumbled the ball on the goal line. GAME OVER. Exactly. |
Yesterday's News is the future....
Unless HD/Toshiba will have a suprise in the upcoming CES (But I highly doubt... Warner's move is the Nail in the Coffin to HD) |

Software Sales and Hardware Sales meant crap to Warner, all it took was a $500+ Million check.

Who told you either one existed? As far as the payout I don't think it matters. If there was one it was a brilliant move by Sony and if there wasn't it was still a good move by Warner. They wanted the war over so why not go to the side with the most studios. |

Selling them inferior products and lying about the quality all the way to the bank. Ultimately Sony isn't the only company that backs Blu-Ray. Hell, they have other manufacturers trying to make players for the average consumer. At least that option is out there.
keep in mind that i'm 23, and it's unrealistic for a young adult like me to give hard earned dollars to a company whos products crapped out on me and left me with expensive paperweights. i still get paid hourly and i'm just finishing college, so i really have to watch what companies i give my money to. i've realized samsung is the absolute pinnacle of electronics in my eyes, and if a samsung product is available for my need, the item is essentially sold. |
