True. The first thing they told me when I was recruited as a mod was that I'm a member first and moderator second. Also, as best as I can, I try to keep comments that I make as a moderator separate from comments that I make as a participant in a discussion by use of words like "MOD NOTE" or something to that effect.

MOD NOTE: Anyway, can we collectively drop this and go back to discussing Blu-ray? Thanks.

I'm watching 3:10 to Yuma on BD tonight and pretty stoked about it. I love modern Westerns. I heard the transfer was amazing and so is the film.

Now BV, on the topic - BRING ON TOMBSTONE ON BD!!!!!

Agreed. It isn't about the tool, but the art the tool creates.

Awesome, awesome movie. I've never been happy with the transfer from the BD Vista. But I'd watch this movie on VHS if I had to.

I have to be honest. I have the Vista DVD but I have never watched it. Don't have a reason why.

Good suggestion. I generally don't like westerns, but I love Tombstone as well. Looking forward to a BD release.

Yeah AVS still is pretty despicable even after their new rules. The mods there are demeaning and there is no rhyme to their reason when it comes to deleting posts and so forth. They started deleting Dave Vaughn's posts and he is about reasonable as they come!

FWIW, assuming they use the old transfer, Ice Age should look really good despite being MPEG.

And so should the members be entitles to their opinoins, but when I was posting the same kind of stuff as the mod and his freinds, I got a warning.

Where did I even come close to saying I hate this place? Feel to look up how long I have been signed up here. This is what I'm talking about. Was that comment necessary and does it help moderate anything?

Lastly, I don't get these constant comparison to sites like AVS. Is - we're not as bad as them - what people really want to fly here?

All I know it's bad enough from my perspective. I want to contribute but I'm sick of the snarky and nasty tone in almost every post directed at me, from mod and non-mod I might add, just because to disagreed and and didn;t back down from what seems to be the core group here.

I do want to participate, but dealing with what I have had directed at me is not worth it. At the very least I keep reading as I have for the time I've been here since there is a lot of good info outside of the nasty comemnts from the core group.

Constantin has been using MPEG2 on single-layer discs for both formats. This isn't a firm being constrained by the limitations of HD DVD. Optimizing their discs for either format is clearly not something that concerns them, and I fail to see how going Blu-ray only will change that.

If I just got a PS3 I feel I would be able to educate masses too about the future of HD and SD media...anybody want to split the cost of one with me? Cmon it would make me a certified expert on the subject of all things HD and would validate my opinions as true and correct.

It will be on permanent loan in my house, but you are feel free to watch any Blu ray if you want.

I seem to recall you making posts about mods on other forums allowing their friends to make all kinds of awful posts while clamping down on others. Was that you? Because I have to say, as a mod, none of the people here are actually my friends. I don't hang out with any of them. I barely communicate with any of them outside of this forum. And most of the ones I do communicate with are other mods, and then mostly about what's going on in the forums. So I don't see where you're getting the idea that the mods are letting certain posters get away with anything.

Mod Note: Since the WB announcement, we've been barraged with complaints about pro-Blu posts, anti-Blu posts, pro-HD posts, and anti-HD posts. We've had members asking us to suspend anyone that posts anything they don't agree with. We look at the forums and weed out the most offensive or contentious posts, while giving out warnings to trouble posters. We've already suspended one person because of all of this, and I really don't want to have to continue doing that. But if the same few people on both sides can't bring themselves to stop, we will. It has nothing to do with "a lack of respect" and everything to do with being responsible for the smooth running of the board. If you can't post without overtly or covertly attacking the other format, then don't bother posting at all. And the mods will determine what is a veiled attack and what isn't.

Given how much you've complained since you've started coming here, I don't think it's an unwarranted comment, actually.

No, we DON'T want it to be as bad as AVS, which is why we're trying to cut down on the kind of "my format is better than yours"/"no it isn't!" sort of posting that you yourself (among others) have contributed to.

Having read your comments, you stir up as much dust as the "core group" you're complaining about. Hence the "pot kettle black" comment from namja.

Ok now that we got all that out of the way here is some good news. If you got in on the BOGO deals at Amazon last week, you can actually make that deal even better. A lot of the titles from the BOGO deals are available for cheaper on Amazon right now since it's part of a BD up to 50% off sale. I have over $50 in refunds coming back to me! Here is the link to the titles and hope you guys get some money coming back to y'all.

I'm sorry but this is just funny(and not in a good way). people are actually spending time requesting this?

"he said Blu-Ray won and I don't like it. BAN HIM!!!!"

I really feel sorry for all of you Mods here if this is some of the stuff you have to deal with. that is all.

tonymontana313, How long after contacting Amazon did you get notified of the refund and what method of contacting them did you use? I sent an email via a Contact Us button on one of the pages earlier today, but haven't heard anything yet. Hasn't been too long though, but just curious how quickly you got a response.

It takes 24-48 hours. I can't believe how much in refunds I stand to get if they approve all of them. I buy too much

I used the same method you used Jim. I just emphasized that I was a Amazon Prime customer. I can't believe that I got 3 orders of Fox catalog titles for 6.03 per order! This is how the math breaks down on it. BOGO=27.95-5(amazon visa)-8.46(price differential)-8.46(price differential)=$6.03. Who said you can't get deals once the format war is over?

Let me get this straight... I'm being seen as one of the people saying one format is better than the other? Examples please.

I've made it clear more than once that I'm only a few weeks into owning either of the formats and I'll be the first to admit I don't know enough about either format to diss the other. I'm starting to wonder if people even know what they are ripping me for.

So complaints or negative comments equals hating the site? I can't believe I read that.

In my experience, people only bother to compalin if they care. If they hate something, they leave it behind.

Complaints by themselves aren't frowned upon, but they are only addressed in the Feedback forum. Complaining here does nothing but aggravate people, because the topic under discussion here isn't the fairness of the mods, it's Blu-ray.

Was in Walmart this morning, and although they have now locked up all of their HDM, they certainly have expanded the selection of titles. I'm actually impressed. They had many more BDs, which is now a good thing. A good mix of new and catalog titles. Pricing remains lower than any other B&M. They had 3:10 to Yuma, War, Resident Evil: Extinction all for $24.96. Now that my Amazon discount is history, I will likely be buying more from WM. Picked up RE3 today. Despite hating part 2, I enjoyed 3 quite a bit. The audio is terrific.

Now that WB is dropping HD DVD, I'm on the lookout for that Superman Returns BD that contains TrueHD and PCM audio. This was originally produced and packed with the Pioneer BD player, but it's been confirmed that WB's warehouse is out of the Dolby Digital 5.1 version and will quietly be releasing this new version in stores. According to DobyBlue on AVS, that time should be around now. It's also on sale for $19.99 this week at Best Buy, so I'm hoping to score a copy today. Was in 1 BB earlier this week, but they only had the DD 5.1 version.

This is the back cover for those interested:
