So now you play the Fox version of Russian Roulette - will it come out? Which Schwarzenneger movie won't be given a special edition ala True Lies? Isn't it fun to ask the same questions 6 years later?

edit: Yes, I think it was Bunkaroo...

Yes it was almost certainly me. It's personal goal to get as many of the great Arnold movies in HD as possible.

I want "The Running Man" personally.

I used to love that movie, but when I watched the collector's edition DVD, it didnt seem to hold up very well to my memory of it.

Ahh for me I like it just as much as an adult as I did as a kid.

It's especially entertaining now considering we seem to be moving closer and closer to having shows very similar to the Running Man for real.

I'm just basing my gripes off of the atrocity that was Robocop.

I like you Bunkaroo. That's why I'll kill you last. :D

Mr. Cinema 01-10-08 04:03 PM

I wonder how many more titles were close to being released when they canceled all of them last year? I hope Silence of the Lambs wasn't one of them.

Yea, definitely cheesy indeed, still one of my favorites though!

I figured as much; however, I was just hoping (naive, I know) that Fox would take the time to actually redo them.

Thanks for the info pro-b. Predator should be great in hi-def but I am puzzled yet again as to why Fox is holding out the special features again. I have no problem with their transfers or their audio but the fact that they are holding out extras is starting to get annoying.

And their persistance to give catalog titles a list price of $39.99. I wonder when that bullshit is going to end.

Drexl 01-10-08 04:24 PM

I hope they at least keep the commentary and trivia track on there, so that those with the SE DVD can create their own new SE. It sucks when the commentary track is dropped, since then you can't listen to the commentary and watch the movie in HD (without some work).

Which is why Fox catalogs are only purchased on BOGO sales!

I'll be waiting for the inevitable "I lied" post.....

Thankfully there are no cliffs around here.

The question is, what would be better:

High list with frequent BOGO's, or lower list with no BOGO's?

Or they could follow Sony's lead and do both. :)

Fox continues to be a non factor. I even passed on their titles during the last B1G1 deal.

I could probably deal with $40 catalog titles if they loaded them with features or I could deal with no extras if the titles were priced accordingly. However, this fuck the consumer stance is not working for me. I simply don't buy Fox releases unless I find them dirt cheap used at EB for a B2G2 free and that only happened once.

For me it's watching and thinking to myself... yes... two of those guys were actually elected Governor of their home state. Got to love the USA!

Was that supposed to be "was" one of them. All I hope is they finally get it right. The picture keeps getting a little better while the sound gets worse. By far my favorite movie and would quadrouple dip ASAP if they got it right. If not, my other 3 SDVD's will just have to do.

How is this good news for Blu-ray? Constantin was already releasing titles on Blu-ray. This news is neutral for Blu-ray.

Wasn't the HD-DVD release without english subtitles?

For the same reason having WB/New Line/HBO as Blu-exclusive: proper BD encodes and no compromises in terms of Audio/Video quality.

Der Untergang was never released on HD in Germany. The only licensed by Constantin Films release was by a Spanish distrib. Thus, English-subs were not present.

Honestly, it is FUD like this that turns people off of your posts. BD was not hampered at all by non-exclusive encodes. Give me a break.
