Being reference material doesn't make #2 or #3 enjoyable.

Imdb doesn't agree with your personal opinion.

Yet the critics do. Just saying, they're not worth a blind buy.

Who gives a shit what the critics think, ESPECIALLY about an action / popcorn flick. I watch what I think would be enjoyable, not some overweight blowhard critic who thinks every movie has to be in a foreign language about some esoteric subject with long shots of flowers dying in rapid motion.

Same here...well I actually purchased a PS3 in December from Sonystyle.com

I was able to get $150 off for creating a credit card account, sold my PS2 and a few games for $200. Ended up costing me $150 out of my pocket:)

And at the same time Amazon.com has been having BOGO sales every other day!!! I've picking up tons of titles. These sales make re-buying movies I already own on SD DVD less painful

You just described the pretentious shit they usually slam, not clamor to, but nice try. Alas, who gives a fuck what anybody says about anything? Everybody is going to have a different opinion and every line everywhere ends with an invisible imo.

So I'll state as fact, the last two Pirates movies were incredibly boring, steaming piles of shit that fail miserably at being both action and popcorn flicks. imo

Heh, but that aside, Curse of the Black Pearl is an entertaining flick with a damn fine transfer.

You may think that and that is absolutely okay but it still doesn't change the fact that 2nd and 3rd Pirates are two of the best selling Blu-ray titles to date and are reference titles packed with extras which makes them great titles to buy. Nuff said!

RichC2 01-04-08 02:14 PM

Yup it's true, reference quality with extras and great sales.

Still terrible movies that I wouldn't recommend a blind purchase for. Ref Quality only goes so far :p But the subject is pretty moot by this point, where do you find your sales numbers anyhow? Been kind of looking for some similar to a more accurate VGChartz for DVD/HD/Blu Sales.

When will Warner announce Batman Begins?

Rumor is that it will hit the streets right before Dark Knight opens... hopefully with the also-rumored new encode!

RichC2 01-04-08 03:34 PM

New Encode? Yeah, that'll do a lot. (/sarcasm. Honestly, the encode is pretty much flawless the way it is now.)

"Lastly, Warner has also done another fine job encoding 'Batman Begins.' Though the film is not as quick-cut as some recent blockbusters, it does have many scenes of fast action, which this transfer handles adroitly. No macroblocking or any type of posterization is present. And though there is some slight film grain present at times, there are no compression problems or resultant noise. Excellent, excellent job, folks. 'Batman Begins' looks fabulous."

Looks like there's a lot of room for improvement. Perhaps WB will wait until the 200GB BD discs arrive. More space = higher bitrate = better transfer!

RichC2 01-04-08 03:37 PM

Oh like you can't tell the difference, everybody knows higher numbers = better, regardless!

Curiously, now that WB is bluray exclusive, I think I do remember the Batman Begins hd-dvd encode sucking.

Slowly, and half-heartedly, by the look of things.

From what I have heard they will announce the Dark Knight for Fall 2008. I'd expect Begins to be released first.

MikeShaynePI 01-04-08 04:37 PM

They'd better announce Matrix now too.

Harry Lime 01-04-08 04:38 PM

Welcome Back Pro-B! The rest of the Blu boys here have missed you including myself.

Kind of relieved. At last all the pointless bickering can stop. I still think HD DVD was an overall benefit by driving down prices and also by being a pretty nice technology out the door. However, I have been very happy with BD lately (once it got its act together) and have no issues with it winning.

The big thing will be slowly replacing HD DVDs with BDs, but honestly I am not doing that on many of the titles that have HD audio or HDI only on the HD DVD version.

I did order 10 discs at the current Amazon B1G1F and put the other discs on Half.com so I will replace some of them. I see myself replacing my A2 with a dual format player at some point.
